The role:

The role will be responsible to implement the company’s communication strategy with emphasis on developing plans and tactics for implementation by all the operations to ensure a flow of information between all employees and stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Implement the company’s communication strategy, develop internal communication processes, systems and audit tools to ensure alignment in all operations
  • Executes the Communication Plan at the operations
  • Prepares operational specific communications and briefings and reviews proposed communications prior to internal release at the operations
  • Protects and enhances Seriti’s reputation by developing and stewarding operational communication aligned to the Communication Strategy and the Company’s business plan
  • Ensures all communication materials and events adhere to branding guidelines
  • Provides communication support for emergency response in crisis management at the operations
  • Co-ordinates operational wide events and supports the Communication & Events Team in Corporate or Company wide events
  • Co-ordinates all operational driven events with community and external stakeholder
  • Coordinate brand management activities
  • Coordinate PR and advertising campaigns
  • Develop social media content for Seriti Coal – Kriel Colliery
  • Monitor media coverage on Seriti Coal – Kriel and keep all stakeholders informed of developments
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate logistical arrangements for all internal and external events to ensure that they are hosted in a professional manner
  • Coordinate the writing and development of content for all printed and electronic media for Seriti Coal – Kriel Colliery
  • Financial Budgeting & Management

You will need:

  • National Diploma/Degree in Communications or Journalism
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience of which 1 year at least in a Supervisory position
  • Extensive experience in a communication or public relations environment
  • Proven track record in the area of employee engagement and communication
  • Experience in brand management
  • Good writing and general communication skills (non-negotiable)
  • Organising/Coordination of events (non-negotiable)
  • Knowledge of Relevant Legislation governing the Mining Industry including: Mine Health and Safety Act; Minerals and Petroleum Resource Development Act; Basic Conditions of Employment Act Labour Relations Act; Environmental Conservation Act
  • Experience in internal communications (employee engagement and communication) (non-negotiable)
  • Knowledge of relevant evolving trends and best practices in the communication discipline
  • Good working knowledge of current theories and practices in communication research, planning and strategy
  • Aware of existing media networks in South Africa
  • Exposure to external communications (PR, Media, Advertising) (non-negotiable)
  • Computer Literacy: MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Valid driver’s license
  • In possession or able to obtain a certificate of fitness
