Brief Description
The main purpose of this position is to assist the Operations Manager with the finances and investments of the Corporation for Deposit Insurance (CoDI) outsourced to the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Financial Services Department and Financial Markets Department, and to capture budgets, manage bank accounts, facilitate payments, generate financial reports and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, processes and legislation through engagements with relevant stakeholders.
Detailed Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
• Plan work for self and others within CoDI, using discretion in defining, prioritising and allocating work.
• Supervise quality, plan and facilitate the delivery of CoDI-specific outputs, and optimise and manage resources.
• Perform the accounting function in accordance with accounting and SARB policies, relevant accounting standards, cost accounting principles and applicable Acts.
• Perform the final authorisation of payments, accounting transactions and data captured, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeous delivery.
• Perform the final authorisation of reconciliations to ensure validity, accuracy and completeness thereof, ensuring adherence to accounting and SARB policies as well as relevant accounting standards and applicable Acts.
• Oversee the investments of CoDI to ensure validity, accuracy and completeness thereof, ensuring adherence to the investment policy.
• Maintain the management information system for consistent and accurate reporting of relevant information to senior management.
• Lead and participate in stakeholder engagements (internal and external), displaying the ability to solicit information and to deliver a coherent and convincing message.
• Stay current with developments and technologies in own functional area, and ensure application thereof.
• Ensure adherence to processes and internal controls in order to ensure validity and accuracy of financial results.
• Propose and implement the refinement and continuous improvement of systems, tools, controls, methods and processes in own functional area
Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
• the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or an Advanced Diploma majoring in Banking or Finance, or an equivalent qualification (NQF 7); and
• the minimum of 5–8 years of job-related experience.
The following would be an added advantage:
• an Honours degree in Finance.
