Purpose Statement

• To commission and ensure the efficient running/operation of the PostgreSQL databases and server software within Capitec Bank.

Experience

Min:

• Minimum 3 years experience in PostgreSQLdatabase administration and design.
• Proven ability to perform both PostgreSQLand operating system performance tuning and monitoring.
• Experience database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
• Proven ability to write and understand scripts and PLSQL.
• Proven experience in automating jobs and functions.

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant degree in Information Technology or Information Technology – Computer Science

Knowledge

Min:

• Advanced database concepts
• Good knowledge and understanding of
  • PostgreSQL database, related utilities, and tools
  • Underlying operating system
  • ALL PostgreSQL backup and recovery scenarios
  • PostgreSQL security management
  • PostgreSQl data integrity
  • Both database and system performance tuning 
• Migrations of database to other platforms and other databases
• Understanding of SQL code
• Understand and support PostgreSQL Security and Auditing

Ideal:

• Cloud platforms for AWS/Azure
• Monitoring tools
• Capacity Planning
• Data warehousing

Skills

• Computer Literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
• Planning, organising and coordination skills
