Introduction

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to regulate the engineering profession in accordance with the Engineering Profession Act 46 of 2000.

Position Summary: The position Marketing and Communications Officer has become available. the incumbent will be required to work as part of a team that strives for excellence and delivers work of high standard. The incumbent will be required to provide internal and external communications support to the organisation through the use of internal and external communication platforms, to promote ECSA and its strategic business objectives. The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Stakeholder Relations and Marketing.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate ECSA events: Awards ceremonies, road shows; conferences; exhibitions  etc;
• Co-ordinate ECSA engagements with external stakeholders to support ECSA Strategic Projects;
• Identify strategic partners for major initiatives;
• Maintain good relations with ECSA  stakeholders;
• Co-ordinate branding for all events and engagements;
• Publicise ECSA as a leading brand in the engineering space on external and internal communication platforms;
• Manage all ECSA social media platforms through advanced understanding and use of social media and other digital platforms to communicate ECSA messaging to both internal and external stakeholders;
• Report on trends and statistics across all digital media platforms;
• Monitor Corporate Identity Compliance by internal and external stakeholders;
• Manage all corporate marketing materials and keep a quarterly register;
• Coordinate and implement marketing campaigns considering all communication touch points;   
• Assist in providing content for ECSA internal and external communication platforms;  
• Contribute to Business Unit reporting;
• Display understanding and knowledge of procurement of goods and services and financial management.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric;
• Degree / 3 year tertiary equivalent qualification in communication/marketing/public relations;
• 3 years’ experience in corporate communications, marketing, public relations and/or journalism position;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Thorough knowledge of social media and web analytics;
• Must be able to work under pressure;
• Team player;
• Occasionally required to work outside normal office hours;
• Able to attend events away from normal office base;
• Driver’s license;
• Willing to travel.
