The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is a premier science institution that conducts research with partners, develops human capital and foster innovation in support of the agricultural sector. It
provides diagnostic, laboratory, analytical, agricultural engineering services, post-harvest
technology development, agrochemical evaluation, consultation and advisory services, food
processing technology services as well as various surveys and training interventions. Through its
wider network of research institutes and experimental farms, the ARC provides a strong scientific base and a broadly distributed technology transfer capacity to the entire agricultural industry in South Africa.
The ARC-Central Office (ARC-CO) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced and dynamic person
to the following positions at Hatfield, Pretoria:
SYSTEMS DEVELOPER
Key Performance Areas:
- Analyse user requirements.
- Research, design and write new software programs.
- System testing.
- Make enhancements on the current applications.
- Integration between the systems.
- Write technical specifications and test plans.
- Develop new systems.
- Undertake system maintenance and bug fixes.
- Develop mobile applications.
- Investigate and research new technologies and developments within the ICT environment
Requirements:
- National Diploma/ Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in developing and maintaining web-based systems.
- Strong skills in writing queries in one of the main Relational Database Management Systems (eg
MS SQL and Oracle). - Net programming experience (C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET) Knowledge of Oracle will be advantageous.
- Strong PHP programming skills.
- Strong Knowledge for Animal Breeding Industry and related societies.
