Brief description
The main purpose of this position is to administer, support and maintain data privacy and information protection-related technologies and solutions within the Cyber Security Operations (CSO) Division in the Business Solutions and Technology Department (BSTD), for the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Group.
Detailed description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Administer, monitor and maintain data loss prevention activities and technologies in the SARB to protect the privacy, security and confidentiality of the SARB’s information.
- Coordinate the review of technical configuration documentation and maintain and store back-ups thereof.
- Fulfil the activities related to service requests and incidents to ensure the timeous resolution thereof.
- Provide system support services for data protection technologies to the business areas.
- Review data and define and/or generate reports based on agreed management and/or audit requirements.
- Diagnose problems and choose and/or modify routines to deal with them, displaying the ability to provide solutions/approaches for problems within a defined context.
- Engage on an operational level with relevant stakeholders, role players and service providers, displaying a service orientation in own work and ensuring commitment to a common goal.
- Proactively broaden own knowledge of the data privacy and information protection area, displaying a willingness to make improvements in own work (including methods and practices).
- Provide regular status updates (daily, weekly and monthly) to manager and team members, as defined.
- Evaluate own performance against a given criteria, while identifying and addressing task-specific learning needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Job requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:
- a minimum of a National Diploma (NQF 6) in Information Technology or an equivalent qualification;
- a minimum of one to three years’ experience in a cybersecurity and/or information protection or similar environment.

The primary object of the South African Reserve Bank is to protect the value of the currency in the interest of balanced and sustainable economic growth in the Republic.

The SARB is responsible for regulating cross-border transactions, preventing the abuse of the financial system and supporting the regulation of financial institutions.
Payments and Settlements
The SARB is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of the national payment system, which is the backbone of South Africa’s modern financial system.
Statistics
The SARB provides important economic and financial statistics that present an overview of the economic situation in South Africa.

Research conducted by the SARB focuses on economics, financial stability, banking and emerging trends in finance. Our research supports policy decision-making.
