Brief description

The main purpose of this position is to manage and maintain the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) website and intranet (SARBhub) to enhance the profile and image of the SARB by consistently applying the brand and design principles in a professional manner.

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Produce (including writing), manage and publish content for the SARB website and intranet, and ensure the consistent application of the SARB’s corporate identity and brand.
  • Develop a framework for the SARB’s website and intranet to effectively manage and oversee both platforms.
  • Create and manage the content plan for the website and intranet to ensure updated and relevant information. 
  • Oversee and ensure consistency of design, style, corporate identity and branding on the intranet.
  • Produce summaries (blurbs) for the website when publishing media releases, speeches, publications, reports and other public documents on the website and intranet in a timeous and accurate manner. 
  • Produce, publish and update content on the SARB website and intranet, and ensure consistency of style, branding and corporate identity. 
  • Apply creative design principles in the production of new content for the website and intranet to create and develop engaging content.
  • Develop a seamless user experience (UX) navigation process for new and refreshed content that is creative and consistent. 
  • Ensure content (videos, infographics, animation) on the website and intranet is linked to other digital channels such as YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. 
  • Utilise appropriate web design and search engine analytical tools to maximise traffic to the website. 
  • Update the RSS feed database annually.
  • Manage the website and intranet libraries to ensure easy access to brand, design and content elements and processes for web administrators across the SARB. 
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of the website and make recommendations on areas of improvement.
  • Stay updated on technological and software developments related to websites and intranets.
  • Work closely with the SARB’s Business Solutions and Technology Department to ensure continuous website and intranet functionality.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for the SARB to reach new audiences and expand the reach of existing ones.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • a minimum of a National Diploma (NQF6) in Web Design and Content Management/ New Media/Communications or an equivalent qualification; and
  • a minimum of three to five years’ experience in a communications, media or multimedia environment, with exposure to one or a combination of the following: website design on an Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and/or SharePoint platform, website analytics and web content publishing.

The primary object of the South African Reserve Bank is to protect the value of the currency in the interest of balanced and sustainable economic growth in the Republic.

The SARB is responsible for regulating cross-border transactions, preventing the abuse of the financial system and supporting the regulation of financial institutions.

Payments and Settlements

The SARB is responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of the national payment system, which is the backbone of South Africa’s modern financial system.

Statistics

The SARB provides important economic and financial statistics that present an overview of the economic situation in South Africa.

Research

Research conducted by the SARB focuses on economics, financial stability, banking and emerging trends in finance. Our research supports policy decision-making.
