Anti-Poaching Unit Gate Guard (2 vacancies)
A challenging vacancy currently exists for 2 x Gate Guards at Addo Elephant National Park. The successful incumbent will report to the APU Ranger Sergeant.
Location
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 (Std 10) Certificate.
- Successful completion of Ranger Fitness Selection Program.
- Accredited Basic Field Ranger Training (will be an advantage)
- Relevant experience in conservation will be an advantage.
- Relevant experience in security/access control will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation.
- Must be willing to undergo a medical exam.
Responsibilities
- Law Enforcement that will include participating in Access Control, Secure Workspace, Reporting and Communication.
- To resolve minor conflicts that may arise at the entrance gate.
- To provide detailed information to guests about the park.
- To prevent unauthorized removal of the park’s property
- To guard the entrance gate at the park.
- To open the gate to allow employees, deliveries, contractors, and authorized guests to enter the park.
- Check the credentials before allowing anyone to enter the park.
- To control traffic to and from the park’s buildings and grounds.
- To direct guests and authorized personnel to various parts of the park
- To perform maintenance duties such as mowing lawns and sweeping gate areas; etc.
- To record the arrival and departure of both employees and guests

- The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B1 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.
