Financial Controls Specialist (SOX)
Financial Perspective
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with UK SOX requirements, including Reporting and documentation of material weaknesses or deficiencies.
- Audit Support: Facilitate and support external auditors during UK SOX compliance audits by providing documentation, facilitating walkthroughs, and addressing inquiries in a timely manner.
- Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessments to identify potential risks to financial reporting and recommend mitigation strategies.
Customer Perspective
- Coordinate UKCR Activities: Serve as the central point of contact for UK SOX-related activities, facilitating communication and collaboration between internal departments, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Remediation: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement remediation plans for control deficiencies identified during testing.
- Monitor the implementation of remediation plans and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Reporting: Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations to senior management and external auditors regarding the status of UK SOX controls, compliance, and any identified issues or improvements.
Internal Processes
- Control Assessment: Conduct regular assessments of internal controls related to financial reporting to identify deficiencies or weaknesses.
- Ensure that the RACM’s is maintained and that all the controls and tests that are required have been included in the Functional Business unit control sets.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of control procedures, including narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices(RACM).
- Testing: Plan and execute testing plan to evaluate the operating effectiveness of internal controls and identify areas of concern.
- Audit Support: Work closely with Internal audit to ensure alignment on internal control frameworks.
People Management
- Training: Develop and provide training and guidance to employees on UK SOX compliance and control-related matters.
- Stay Informed on Regulatory Changes: Stay abreast of updates to UK Sox regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends in corporate governance. Recommend adjustments to the Sox compliance program as necessary.
Professional Qualification and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, internal audit, or a related field.
- The following certifications are a plus, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CA(SA), or CISA
Work Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in an international company with a focus on financial risk management and internal controls
- Hands on risk and internal controls experience including design and implementation of internal controls frameworks according to SOX or COSO is preferable.
- Experience in risk management, internal auditing, or compliance would be relevant.
- Good working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

- Creativity and initiative in work product, positive and helpful attitude proposing solutions to resolve problems.

Specialist – SOP Training (LMP)
The position is responsible for the execution on the BU Operational Training Curriculum working closely with the Operations Standards Specialist in developing cost effective, fit-for purpose operational training delivery plans for Logistics facilities. This includes the annual schedule of training taking into account the training needs analysis and competency observation program as well as other agreed process deployments as required. Delivers training and competency observations. Maintains training records. Participate in SOP and Checklist reviews/development/changes.

National Sales Manager Indirect – Local & Exports Lubricants
Manage the implementation and execution of agreed sales & marketing programs for the local South African and export (SADC based) Lubricants Distributor Network.
Execute the sales process focusing on new business volume and profit growth whilst actively defending base business. Develop distributor business plans using sales process in collaboration with distributors and have action plans to achieve overall business plans.
Monitor sales volumes and margin monthly and update actions plans to achieve targets.
Build relationship with distributors and work together to identify and solve business requirements and challenges. Collaboratively work with other Business units to achieve Indirect Channel Profit and Loss.
Design and deliver plans against Astron Energy’s strategic objectives, Zero harm, Customer Focus, Valued Employees, Win-win partnership and Attractive investor destination. Lead Operator
Responsible for execution of a 24/7/364 day-to-day Operational activities at the Terminal including Aviation, additive product receipts, Jet Slop transfer, VRU operations, Tank operations, Product Quality control, HES, Stock control and reconciliation with regards to the Stock Control Standards. Also ensure consistent application of clean, safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally sound operations. Assist Terminal Manager with all Operational activities.

- Conduct LPO’s (Loss Prevention Observations) on drivers to certify them

- Facilitate effective communication between internal and external stakeholders.

- Responsible for the functioning of two gantries (Fuels & Aviation – Jet)
- Assist the Invoicer Administrator to execute their function (processing orders, issuing FANs and reconciling of delivered orders)
