LHD Driver

Job description

Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a LHD Driver who will be responsible for safe loading and transporting of ore using a mobile mechanised LHD machine underground. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining “, delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

· Grade 10 or equivalent

· Competent B certificate of competency

· LHD Driver certificate of competency

Experience

At least 2-3 years’ experience as a LHD Driver in a underground mining environment

Key performance areas

As our LHD Driver some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

· Ensure the loading and hauling of tons from working places using the LHD machine

· Ensure that working places and mark bays allocated are cleaned at end of shift

· Responsible for cleaning and refuelling of the machine allocated to you

· Deliver on set tonnage targets as per mine plan

· Take reasonable care and avoid any damages to the machine allocated to you

· Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to at all times

· Ensure the health and safety of personnel on the mine by complying to the mine’s TMM operational procedure

Additional requirements

· Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, policies, records etc

· Subject to passing a dover assessment

· Medical Certificate of Fitness

· Must be willing to work shifts

· Medical Certificate of Fitness

Rock Drill Operator

Job description

Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Rock Drill Operator who will be responsible for the drilling of holes in preparation for safe quality planned blast. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining “, delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

· Grade 10 or equivalent

· Competent B certificate of competency

· RDO Certificate of competency

Experience

· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Rock Drill Operator

Key performance areas

As our Rock Drill Operator some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

· Always work within required mine standard of permanent and/or temporary support

· Do not remove any support without the instruction and supervision of the miner

· Monitor and confirm that all hoses and fittings are properly secured at attachment points and all safety measures are in place

· Drill on marks and direction lines drawn by the Supervisor

· Only drill in an area were support is installed according to the mine standard

· Apply safe barring procedure at all times

· Examine roof bolts support is according to standard

· Inspect drilling equipment and ensure safety prior to use

· Full and thorough knowledge of Eland Mine face drilling procedure

· Installation and removal of temporary support

· Installation of permanent support

· Proven track record (Record of Service)

Team Leader Mining

Job description

Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader Mining (Competent A) who will be responsible for supporting the underground mining teams to achieve planned production safely . Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining “, delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

· Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent qualification is essential

· Competent B certificate of competency

· Competent A certificate of competency

Experience

· At least 2-3 years’ experience as a Team Leader in a underground mining environment

Key performance areas

As our Team Leader Mining some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

· Ensuring that the underground working conditions are maintained to a high and acceptable standard

· Support the optimisation of the shaft

· Taking control of the crew

· Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to at all times

· Conduct safety meetings before entering of the workplace

· Monitor conditions of PPE and wear at all times

· Maintain good employee relations

· Participate in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

· Complete and sign the safe declaration book with team members

Additional requirements

· At least 2-3 years’ experience as a Team Leader in a underground mining environment

· Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, policies, records etc

· Must be willing to work shifts

Miner Assistant

Job description

Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Miner Assistant who will assist the Miner with daily mining activities. The successful incumbent will be required to contribute t the overall production targets of the crew . Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining “, delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

· Grade 10 or equivalent

· Competent B and BA certificate of competency

· Medical Certificate of Fitness

Experience

· At least 1-2 years’ experience in a underground mining environment

Key performance areas

As our Miner Assistant some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

· Ensuring that the underground working conditions are maintained to a high and acceptable standard

· Conducting all assigned work in a satisfactory and competent manner

· Assisting the Miner/Developer as and when required

· Contribute to a culture of zero harm by complying with the Health and Safety policy and practices of the company

· Ensure proper house keeping in area of work as per Mine standards

· Medical Certificate of Fitness

Scraper Winch Driver

Job description

Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Scraper Winch Driver who will operate scraper winch, ancillary equipment and attachments safely . Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining “, delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

· Grade 10 or equivalent

· Competent B certificate of competency

· Certificate of training on Scraper Winches (competency certificate)

· Proven track record (Record of Service)

· First aid certificate will be advantageous

Experience

· 5 years’ proven Scraper Winch operating experience

· Mono Winch experience will be advantageous

Key performance areas

As our Scraper Winch Driver some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

· Daily inspection, testing and operation of Scraper Winches to ensure:

· Scraper Winches and attachments are maintained in good working condition

· Scraper Winches are operated and maintained according to mine standard

· Assist with concrete winch beds and install platforms

· Assist with winch barricades as per Mine standard

· Assist Team Supervisor with safe declaration before any work commence
