Shaft Foreman

Located within the Limpopo and North West Provinces of South Africa with our Head Office based in the business hub of Rosebank in Johannesburg

 Purpose of Role
-The Shaft Foreman is responsible to manage and control the operations in a vertical or decline shaft.

 Work of Role
-Effective operation and supervision of the vertical shaft during a shift
-Effective administration of systems
-Material movement
-Ore movement
-People movement
-Effective systems for management and technical control used
-Reports completed to required standard
-Ensure effective maintenance of equipment and infrastructure in area of responsibility
-Effective movement of men, materials and ore to support operational performance and safety
-Ensure that materials and equipment are available for the shift’s requirements in the area
-Monitor and advise on the operation of machinery to optimize performance
-Ensure that material usage is to standard and reclaimed material optimized

Qualifications
-Grade 12
-Blasting Certificate
-Onsetter Certificate
-Supervisory Courses
-Law and Standards – Advantageous

 Experience
-Minimum of 5 years shaft experience
-Experience in shaft systems, water control and explosives with shaft logistics

Knowledge and Skills
-English literate
-Basic computer literacy
-Valid driver’s licence

Senior Foreman Electrical

Located within the Limpopo and North West Provinces of South Africa with our Head Office based in the business hub of Rosebank in Johannesburg

Purpose of Role
-This role is responsible for managing the discipline of engineering supervisory, budget and technical service. Compliance to operating relevant procedure work instructions, MHSA compliance, and GTS-group technical standards. Coordinate special projects and shutdowns. Manage PM compliance and prioritize duties towards maintenance of equipment and services. Responsible for budget setting and control, contactor management and quality management.

Work of Role
-Administration of necessary systems
-Support the achievement of the operation plan
-Undertake to plan the spares requirements according to the planned maintenance schedule and ensure their availability
-Liaise with the operation management team regarding daily, weekly and monthly progress to plan, budget and employee resources
-Oversee that all work practices are executed in compliance with legal requirements
-Evaluate, monitor and provide continuous feedback to the section regarding the performance efficiencies, standards of the section labour, equipment, budget and process targets
-Identify operational priorities within the section that would ensure the optimization of the section’s performance
-Undertake to plan, up to 1 year ahead and assists with 5-year planning, the budget requirements according to the planned maintenance schedules verses operational targets and budgets
-Plan daily, weekly and monthly work requirement and priorities with operational team
-Regularly review operational and technical data to extract trends, identify problems and compile management reports
-Process remains fully operational
-Oversee the quality of workmanship and conduct regular inspections around the section and the operation
-Assist the operation management team in developing an operational plan for the year to support the crushing process in achieving throughput objectives

Qualifications
-Grade 12
-Electrical Trade Certificate
-Medium Voltage Certificate
-Law and Standards with Supervisory Courses

 Experience
-Experience in Winders required
-Minimum of 5 years experience required as Foreman

Developer

 Purpose of Role
-A Developer fulfils a shift role in a development area underground to ensure a safe quality blast per day. Responsible to ensure that rules/regulations and management specifics pertaining to daily tasks are complied with, and to deal with/report any breaching thereof. Responsible to ensure the health and safety of persons in his/her team and for persons entering his/her area of responsibility.

-Minimum of 5 years related experience of which 2 years must be in a Team Supervisor position

-Minerals Act Chapter 8 (Responsibility in workings)
-MHSA Chapter 9 (Occupational Hygiene)

Shift Supervisor Mining

Purpose of Role
-The Shift Supervisor Mining has the legal accountability with a 2.15.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is responsible to ensure compliance to legal requirements and management specifics, and the completion of records pertaining to his/her area of responsibility, as stipulated by the regulations.

Work of Role
-Application of legal, operational and standard compliance with regards to work, machinery and equipment inspections and the recording thereof as stipulated in section 2.15.1 of the Minerals Act
-Monitoring of environmental conditions for compliance to legal and management specifics
-Investigating incidents/accidents and property damage
-Obtaining and posting all relevant reports, instructions and statistics received from economic resource departments
-Planning production for the area of responsibility
-Monitoring performance of all activities and advice where applicable to enhance productive achievement
-Monitoring shift activities to ensure maximum production output
-Supporting section objectives
-Monitoring performances for compliance to legal and management specifics
-Maintaining/monitoring formal records for area
– Receiving and forwarding the ordering of all required material and resources
-Completing all the required checklists, reports, etc.

Qualifications
-Grade 12
-Blasting Certificate
-Shift Supervisor Certificate
-Mining related Diploma / Degree / Mine Overseer Certificate – Advantageous

Experience
-Minimum 3 years experience as a Miner in stoping and developing

Chief Rock Engineer

Purpose of Role
-Providing the mine (3-5 shafts with increasing mining complexity, variable conditions and aging infrastructure) with high level and specialist rock engineering services and expertise.

Work of Role
-Develop/contribute to tactics and plans for mining at increasing depth and to combat increased seismicity inferred from multiple observations and measurements in current mining
-Set and assure compliance to rock engineering systems, policies, protocols and standards
-Benchmarking the state of rock engineering practice in relation to established best practice (technology)
-Review and sign off layouts, mandatory codes of practice and rock engineering related systems
-Investigate opportunities to optimize efficiency and cost, driven by rock engineering input
-Conduct and sign-off geotechnical modelling for mine design and layout purposes
-Conduct/contribute to feasibility studies for new on-mine projects
-Responsibility for the rock engineering service at the mine including human resources optimization and talent management
-Business and technical risk analysis
-Cross discipline (mining, ventilation, planning, safety and surface geotechnical) input in mine planning
-Support the overall operational management of the mine
-Custodian of LoM rock engineering strategy

Qualifications
-Grade 12
-Chamber of Mines Rock Mechanics Certificate (for Metalliferous Mines)
-Chamber of Mines Advanced Rock Engineering Certificate
-BSc Hons in Engineering Geology / Mining Engineering
-MSc in Mining Engineering – Advantageous
-Member of South African Institute of Rock Engineering – Advantageous

Experience
-Minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in rock engineering

Knowledge and Skills
-Sound knowledge to integrate with mining, safety & health legislation, ventilation, geology and planning disciplines
-Sound knowledge pertaining to people management
-The understanding of and experience in asset management principles around mining, equipment and associated operational / maintenance standards /philosophies will be required
-Working knowledge of specialist rock engineering computer programs and models
-Valid driver’s licence
