JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated and service-oriented Waiter to join our Food and Beverage team at Thaba Eco Hotel. In this role, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests. You will be responsible for delivering professional and attentive service, ensuring guest satisfaction, and upholding our high standards of hospitality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet guests, escort them to their tables, and provide menus.
  • Take and process food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide recommendations and answer questions about menu items, specials, and beverages.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Ensure proper table settings and maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests or issues.
  • Upsell menu items and promote specials to enhance the dining experience and increase revenue.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
  • Handle guest payments and process transactions accurately.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of food and beverages.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Proven experience as a Waiter or in a similar customer service role, preferably in a high-end dining establishment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage and interact with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including wine pairings and menu details.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food handling and service.
  • Additional language skills and experience in a luxury hotel environment are a plus.

  • Maintain a strong focus on detail and quality customer service, ensuring that each guest receives exceptional treatment and leaves with a positive impression.
  • Manage and lead restaurant staff, including hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, and reviewing performance, to maintain a motivated and high-performing team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Kraal Restaurant’s operations.
  • Monitor and control expenses, including food and beverage costs, labor costs, and other operational expenses, to meet budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe environment for staff and guests.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as the kitchen and event teams, to ensure smooth operations and cross-functional synergy.
  • Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and proactive manner.
  • Be proficient in POS systems to manage transactions and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Continuously strive to improve Kraal Restaurant’s offerings, service, and ambiance to exceed guest expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager with a track record of success in delivering world-class dining experiences.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse team.
