Overview
The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) is contributing towards skills development by providing
graduates with an opportunity to gain work experience in Arts Administration. The NAC is therefore
inviting applications for an Internship Programme that will run for a period of six (6) months. Interns will
be placed within the NAC offices in Newtown, Johannesburg.
The NAC is an equal opportunity employer and would be guided by the principles of Employment Equity
Act (EEA) when considering the applications. The NAC upholds the right to place or not place applicants
based on its needs and requirements.
Requirements:
- Applicants must hold at least a four-year Arts degree
- Applicants must be at least 21 to 35 years old.
- Applicants must be unemployed.
- Applicants with an Arts Administration qualification will have an added advantage.
Successful interns will be expected to sign an Internship Agreement.

INTERIM FINANCE MANAGER
(Salary package: DPSA level 12)

FINANCE MANAGER
The Interim Finance Manager will have delegated responsibilities from the Interim
Chief Financial Officer and will ensure that effective financial controls are in place,
play an active role in risk management as well as account to the Interim Chief
Financial Officer for financial success, asset management, finance resources, human
resource management and compliance to all financial regulations.
The Finance Manager will therefore assist Interim Chief Financial Offer in fulfilling all
statutory responsibilities as outlined in the PFMA.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, improve, and develop financial systems of the NAC.
- Implement financial, accounting and control systems according to GRAP and
ensure financial/corporate governance throughout the NAC. - Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with GRAP.
- Review all reconciliation accounts of the NAC.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and report to management, Council
Committees and Council - Reviewing of project and creditors payments
- Review payroll preparation and payouts.
- Provide financial and accounting services to the NAC management team.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer with institutional budgeting and monitor
expenditure. - Review and Manage asset register.
- Assist with management of overall Supply Chain Management activities,
processes, and procedures in line with the legislative framework. - Liaise with the Internal auditors, Office of the Auditor General and relevant
departments on behalf of the NAC regarding duties relating to the position - Assist with financial reports of projects within the NAC.
- Assist with financial policy development and reviews.
- Assist with the monitoring of the Performance Information of the NAC.
- Ensure and manage the finances of the NAC.
- Risk management and operational risks
- Preparation of Governance meeting packs
Key requirements
- B Com/ B Compt degree and/or any recognizable/equivalent financial
qualifications - Completed articles will be an added advantage.
- Experience in a similar position and level of accountability will be an
advantage. - Knowledge of financial systems including Pastel, Caseware, etc.
- Strategic thinking and high level of financial literacy
- Presentation, people management, communication, and reporting
- In depth knowledge and required experience in applicable legislation as
would relate to Finance and SCM.

To provide secretarial and administrative support to the Arts Development Unit and
facilitate the smooth and effective day-to-day operations of the Arts Development
Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the diary of the relevant manager to ensure efficiencies on an
ongoing basis within key deadlines. - Manage incoming telephone calls of the relevant manager to ensure
