Job Description
Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Group Specialist: Indirect Tax Controller to join the Finance Department, in CCBA. The successful applicant will be reporting into the Group Lead: Tax Management.

The Group Specialist: Indirect Tax Controller ensures the alignment of CCBA Group companies with tax strategy, compliance with legislation, and efficient management of indirect tax processes while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders. The role also interacts with Group Finance, in-country Finance / Tax teams, and the in-country Revenue Authorities on VAT, Excise tax matters, audits, and queries.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Continuously analyse the VAT accounts making sure the VAT is posted correctly and take appropriate actions when necessary.

Month end activities around the VAT accounting including the VAT accounts reconciliations and filing of relevant returns (specifically including the Review and filing of all monthly VAT 201 returns for registered South African vendors).

Control the VAT payment and receivable process ensuring the deadlines are met.

Coordinate ongoing improvement / standardization initiatives within VAT accounting/reporting processes to achieve best practices.

Ensure the Company is compliant with VAT regulations across the region.

Sustain an excellent relationship with local Finance Business Partners.

Participate in various projects.

Preparing responses to correspondence from Revenue Authorities (South Africa), including preparation of supporting schedules and extraction of samples drafting and lodging (i) responses to Revenue Authorities enquiries; (ii) objections to assessments; (iii) applications for rulings and/or directives.

Reviewing correspondence to Revenue Authorities (Greater Africa) in relation to request for information and/or audits.

Conducting tax health checks and reviews to ensure compliance with in-country legislation.

Monitoring in-country tax compliance.

Review of Group Companies tax General Ledger (GL) reconciliations and ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.

Draft internal communications for business advising on legislative changes to the extent it has an impact on business.

Identification and implementation of value adding or tax saving opportunities.

Provide support to Group Companies on VAT, Customs and Excise Duties related queries; and providing support on ensuring Group Companies comply with CCBA Governance Framework and Group Tax Controls.

Oversight over the manage the Port of Entry Deferment Accounts in South Africa and ensuring adherence to Customs & Excise regulations.

Managing Import VAT, Customs and Customs queries received from border posts.

Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting or Finance with Honours in Taxation or equivalent.

CA (SA) / Masters in Taxation advantageous.

Experience:
5 years’ post-qualification experience in Taxation.

5 years Financial Accounting and direct Operational Finance experience.

Job Description
Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity in the Finance department. We are looking for a talented individual with relevant skills and experience for a Financial Planner Discount role, which is based in Midrand. The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager Commercial Services.

Key Purpose

To execute discount related processes and procedures for Commercial Head Office to enable accurate discount allocation, spend and reporting. Partner with commercial operational teams to provide strong, integrated analytical insights and support that enable the delivery of the discount financial performance of CCBSA.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outputs and Accountabilities

Cost Management and Reporting

Reconcile discount data between systems and provide commentary.
Prepare commentary for discount lines in the Income Statement when analysing actuals versus budget and actuals versus prior year.
Process reallocation journals, including Customer Development Finance (CDF) accruals to ensure that they’ve been correctly accounted for in the correct period, and have been correctly classified.
Consolidate total CCBSA manual discounts and conduct an analysis for Commercial as input into the Commercial Business Review.
Consolidate the regional manual discount submission and ensure this balances to the General Ledger.
Track and monitor committed line items and communicate to Purchase Order creators to ensure discounts are accounted for in the correct period.
Track and monitor discount accrual balances brought forward from prior year to ensure they are utilised within the required period.
Track and monitor discount accrual balances raised in current period to ensure that there are no debit balance accruals.
Prepare reconciliation for Balance Sheet general discount ledger accounts affecting Head Office Commercial.
Review all discount reconciliations prepared by Genpact and highlight outstanding accruals requiring investigation.
Review cost centres with cost centres owners in order to highlight risk of overspend / discount opportunities.
Conduct adhoc financial analyses as required by the business relating to discounts for specific customers and / or incentives, to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
Conduct discount analyses as input into calculating the Return on Investment to highlight effective and ineffective promotions to drive top line margin improvements.
Provide suggestions to improve discount reporting for the business.
Governance

Track and monitor Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) adherence and compliance relating to discounts within commercial head office teams and conduct quarterly self-assessments.
Track and monitor all discount related accounts to ensure correct item classification and compliance to the CCBSA reporting standardisation guidelines, as defined by The Coca-Cola Company.
Prepare and provide supporting evidence for items requested by internal and external auditors.
Build discounts capability with Head Office Commercial teams through ongoing coaching and support.
Budgeting

Partner with Pricing to ensure the discount full-year forecast for the financial period caters for all promotions for all Channels.
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications and Experience

BCom in financial management or equivalent.
Chartered Accountant of South Africa (CA(SA)) / Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) would be advantageous.
3-5 years of financial management experience.
Intermediate level of MS Office.
