Role Description
To assist in performing the mechanical maintenance activities at the Bakubung Platinum Process Plant. To ultimately provide equipment capability,
reliability and availability to operations through application of the maintenance service. The role reports to the GES and Plant Engineer.

Education and Experience Requirements
 Minimum Grade 12.
 Mechanical (section 13 engineering Fitter Trade.)
 Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mechanical discipline as fitter in a Mineral Processing Plant (PGMs)
 Must have a 2-5 Years’ experience working as a Foreman (Mills, Crushers preferably)
 Studying towards GCC Mines or Factories (added advantage)
 Studying towards Business or Management certificate (added advantage)

Job Requirements
 Planning, Organising, Leading and Managing the workforce
 Liaison with 3rd party service providers to perform maintenance activities.
 Ensuring that the mechanical execution of all projects are done safely to the correct standards and procedures in the allocated time frame
 Maximising equipment reliability through using planned maintenance most effectively
 Maintaining the mechanical integrity of all buildings and structures.
 This function includes the boiler making and rigging disciplines
 To ultimately provide equipment capability, reliability and availability to operations through application of the maintenance service.
 Effective Cost Management
 Report writing, Costs Forecast

Skills & Knowledge Required
Technical and operational knowledge of the following in the Mineral Processing Plant
 Equipment and Machinery
o Mills, pumps, floatation cells, thickeners, pumping, compressors, blowers, Larox, crushers (Jaw and Cone), Screens, conveyor belts, chutes,
pipes, gearboxes, Lifting Equipment
 Structures and Civils
o Surge Tanks, Process water tanks, Tailing Dams, Thickeners, Silos, Pressure Vessels
 Reticulation System/ Circuits
o Water reticulation, air reticulations, Plumbing facilities
Comprehensive knowledge and application of
 People management
 Applicable legislations- MHSA, LRA, OHSA etc.
 Planned Maintenance systems
 Reliability centred maintenance
 Condition monitoring
 Root Cause Analysis
Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to
 Basic health and safety principles in and around a workplace
 Planned Maintenance principles and processes
 Understanding the purpose of equipment and component warranties
 Managing the workforce and maintaining discipline
 Project management principles
 Managing time and prioritizing
 Effective communication
 Business Improvement Initiatives
