We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Rowing to join our team, starting from the beginning of March 2025. This role will involve providing technical leadership, strategic planning, and managerial oversight for the St John’s Rowing Club. The ideal candidate will be passionate about rowing, capable of inspiring and developing our students and rowing coaches, while also upholding the values of St John’s College.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the rowing club’s physical and technical training programme.
- Lead and oversee the entire coaching team, ensuring effective execution of the strategic coaching plan.
- Maintain and manage all rowing equipment, ensuring it’s kept in excellent condition, with repairs conducted where possible and to liaise directly with our boatman and maintenance team.
- Oversee the allocation and proper use of equipment across the club.
- Foster a positive, values-driven culture and environment within the rowing club, aligning with the ethos of St John’s College.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Sport and MiC Rowing on various duties and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification
- At least 4-5 years of relevant rowing coaching experience
- Proven track record of coaching crews to a provincial or national standard.
- Experience in coaching and teaching within a school environment is highly advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license
