- A relevant Degree or Advanced diploma (NQF 7)
- Experience of 3 years’ or more in Grants and Contracts administration.
- MS Word (including creating templates, using tables etc.); MS Excel (non-negotiable) including developing reports, using lookups and pivot tables; and an e-mail and scheduling application (preferably G-mail).
- Experience with Infor LN or any other ERP system will be a distinct advantage.
- Planning and work scheduling of multiple requirements in this sector.

The Mastercard Foundation in partnership with the University of the Western Cape aims to develop Africa’s next generation of leaders. The Scholars Program, to be implemented over a period of seven years, provides financial, social and academic support to a diverse range of talented undergraduate and postgraduate students who are financially and socially impeded, especially young women, refugees and displaced youth, persons with disability and young men, from South Africa and other
parts of the African continent. Through the Scholars Program, UWC will strengthen its role in producing transformative leaders.
Accountable to the Director of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and reporting to the Program Director and the Director: Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Coordinator: Student Transitions will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive set of wrap-around support programmes in consultation with relevant UWC divisions for Mastercard Foundation Scholars at UWC in preparing their transition into the world of work as change agents. This will include career guidance; leadership development, community-engaged learning, digital knowledge, skills and application; entrepreneurship and internships. The Coordinator: Student Transitions will also establish and manage relationships and partnerships with external organizations, including industry partners, to identify dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for Mastercard Foundation scholars and alumni of the Scholars Program.
Responsibilities of the Coordinator Transitions include:
- Develop and implement an annual programme of transitions support for Mastercard Foundation Scholars;
- Develop and coordinate the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program annual wrap-around support programme (WASP) in collaboration with WASP team members;
- Serve as one of UWC’s representatives on the Mastercard Foundation’s Transitions Community of Practice;
- Co-ordinate entrepreneurial pathway programmes for Mastercard Foundation Scholars to transition into dignified and fulfilling work;
- Engage employers and university and industry partners to support Mastercard Foundation Scholars source internship opportunities and co-ordinate all internship arrangements for Scholars.
- Work closely with UWC’s Career Services Division to implement a career mentoring programme for Mastercard Foundation Scholars at UWC;
- Develop programmes for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars to participate in community development and entrepreneurship activities in collaboration with the relevant university support divisions;
- Develop and facilitate online and in-person training, mentoring and networking opportunities for alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program including working with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate alumni engagement initiatives;
- Implement a communication strategy to stay in contact with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program alumni as they transition into the world of work and record their experiences and successes;
- Compile, together with the Program Director, UWC’s monthly and quarterly reports on transitions for submission to the Mastercard Foundation;
- Collate required information on transitions for Mastercard Foundation Scholars for inclusion in reports to the Mastercard Foundation;
- Monitor and evaluate the success of the transition programmes to identify shortcomings so as to inform necessary adjustments and realignments.
Minimum Requirements

- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree at an NQF 7 or an equivalent qualification;
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience preferably in a higher education/research institution with evidence of involvement in student development initiatives;

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is one of the leading faculties in the arts and the humanities in South Africa. The Dean is a member of the University’s Senior Management team and will be directly accountable to the Deputy Vice Chancellors: Academic and Research & Innovation. As the head of the Faculty and as an academic and administrative leader, the Dean is responsible for strategically positioning the Faculty and pursuing the Faculty’s strategic goals as per the University’s Institutional Operating Plan.
The Dean will lead the Faculty while ensuring it fulfils UWC’s mission, especially in meaningful transformation. The Dean is responsible for forging links with relevant industries, donors, funders and government; implementing learning and teaching strategies in the Faculty to ensure the overarching planning, development, innovation, continuity, and amendments to academic programmes to provide quality educational outcomes and financial viability; leading and guiding the research and innovation programs of the Faculty; implementing all of the Faculty’s policies and associated strategies; and ensures implementation of the Framework for the Scholarship of Engagement for Societal Impact and any other institutional policies and frameworks. The Dean further oversees the Faculty’s student enrolment processes to attract and retain students as per UWC’s enrolment targets.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Arts & Humanities or a relevant professional discipline. They must possess senior academic leadership experience and be appointable, at a minimum, at the level of Associate Professor or its equivalent. A strong track record of research outputs, including publication in recognised journals/ books; learning and teaching; fundraising and stakeholder engagement; research and community engagement and successful postgraduate supervision, is critical for this position. Candidates should also have extensive knowledge of the current issues in Higher Education and the Department of Higher Education and Training’s Policy Framework on the Internationalisation of Higher Education in South Africa. As the leader of the Faculty’s research agenda a prospective Dean must be recognised as a researcher of high academic standing. It would be advantageous if a candidate qualifies for NRF-rating.
Key competencies for this role are: Visionary and dynamic leadership and management experience, demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, experience in fostering partnerships and stakeholder relationships at all levels, demonstrated commitment to social justice and transformation, as well as the ability to nurture and develop staff.

The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department play a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University’s strategic goals and objectives. ICS, in line with growing its capability and supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy of UWC, offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sharepoint Developer in the ICS Applications Development and Support unit.
To be part of a team responsible for the creation of robust applications and solutions from business requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for development, maintenance, and support of current and new applications and solutions. They will report to and take instruction from the Team Lead of the Business Systems Unit.
The key role and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Analyse business requirements,
- Design, develop, maintain and support existing and new SharePoint sites
- Documenting and testing of solutions
- The development and configuration of user-friendly, secure and scalable SharePoint sites and enhancements
Minimum Requirements
- 3 year degree (NQF 7) or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science with 3 years relevant experience developing Sharepoint sites or
- Senior certificate (with Bachelors pass) with 5 years relevant experience developing Sharepoint sites.
- Office 365 certification.
Advantageous requirements
- Experience working in an academic environment
Competencies Required
- Experience implementing SharePoint On-Premises, SharePoint Online, Power Platform and O365 solutions
- Experience of SharePoint Framework (SPFx), SharePoint PnP, SharePoint Search, TypeScript, C#, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript
- Basic experience of SharePoint APIs
- Basic understanding of service-oriented and object-oriented development environment
- Understanding of modern SharePoint web stack and creating deployable packages
- Experience creating low code/no code solutions using PowerApps and Power Automate workflows
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Graph and Azure Active Directory
- Understanding hybrid implementation of SharePoint on-premise and SharePoint online and related complexities
- Experience of SharePoint document and record management and data migration and migration tools
- Proven ability to develop innovative, secure, scalable, re-usable, user-friendly and accessible solutions
Advantageous
- Understanding of Fluent UI, user interface design and prototyping
- Experience in relational database design and implementation with SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC, TFS, Azure
- Familiarity of Azure Dev Ops for source control, work item tracking and pipelines for automated builds
- Basic understanding of ISO/IEC 27001, OWASP, WCAG2 and ITIL
- Basic understanding of Waterfall, Agile and DevOps implementation methodologies

- Participate in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) phases with a focus on development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications and solutions
- Develop, maintain, and support existing and new applications and solutions based on business requirements.
- Ensure that solutions and enhancements comply with guidelines and best practices.
- Estimate the efforts involved for development and implementation and prepare Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as required
- Provide 1st line incident response and resolution, or escalation
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) or equivalent
- 3 Years experience as a Software Developer dealing with Microsoft technologies specifically .Net.
- Demonstrable experience within a structured software development environment.
