JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to:
Render therapy/counselling to students (individual and groups)
Provide career guidance and counselling to students and external clients
Present life skills workshops and organise awareness campaigns on mental health issues
Administer, evaluate and interpret psychological tests
Train and supervise peer helpers
Travel to various sites of delivery/ satellite campuses to render services
Coordinate the psychometric profiling of first year students
Design, develop and implement programs in the following areas: Residence counselling, community
programs, crisis/trauma counselling, substance abuse, life skills programs and peer educators’
programs
Undertake research and do needs analysis to inform program development.
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
Qualification/Experience:
At least a Master’s degree in Educational/ Counselling/ Clinical Psychology
Registration with HPCSA as a Psychologist is a prerequisite
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Psychology
Experience in Higher Education environment would be an added advantage
Skills:
Written and verbal communication skills
Analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
Ability to plan, organise and manage projects
Ability to work with staff and students from diverse backgrounds
Ability to work under pressure and over weekends as and when required
Ability to work independently
Administrative skills
