Job Purpose
The role leads the daily operational team by providing supervision, motivation, coaching, and guidance to Ground Handler team members with regard to applicable SAA policy and procedures, governance and customer experience at each touchpoint.

The Duty Officer will ensure that SAA is positioned as an Airline with high levels of service to customers while meeting SAA policies and procedures, regulatory and governance requirements.

Please note: This is a permanent part-time position (28 hours per week).

Principal Accountabilities
Work within delegation of authority (DOA)
Monitor excess baggage charges and ticketed sales
Monitor supplier performance/SLA’s and report correctives to Manager
Provide timely, accurate and relevant feedback/reports, and recommendations as required by leadership
Uphold good governance practices aligned to SAA standards
Communicate effectively on Company standards and requirements with Ground Handler and suppliers
Establish and maintain relationships with relevant internal departments within SAA, within the region, at Head office and Internationally
Ensure continuous on-time departure and adhere to Precision Time Schedule (PTS)
Stay up-to-date on Emergency Procedures and Response
Effectively manage irregular operations – delays, overbooking, baggage handling, diversions
Establish effective customer relationship processes and procedures to handle customer issues such as complaints, queries, delays, seating arrangements, special meals, over-bookings, endorsements from other airlines
Facilitate and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and interdependencies such as Star Alliance, Code-Shares, Airport Authority, Police Authority, Immigration Authority, Customs Officials
Represent the organisation to stakeholders, associates and partners as well as to the public maintaining professional, effective, amicable relationship at the required levels to ensure SAA’s interests are upheld
Attend and represent company’s interests at stakeholder, committee and service provider meetings (Airline Organisation Committee, Star Alliance Airport Team etc.) as requested by airport manager
Participate in BSC (balance score card) which aligns performance objectives/measures and personal development within the businesses parameters – as outlined by HR/JNB and Airport Manager
Uphold welfare of Air Crew in host station (accommodation, security, transport, allowances, Health and Safety, irregular operations, and SAA brand)
Ensure compliance of human resources with relevant legislation (Local)

Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Tourism/Hospitality with at least 3 years functional experience within aviation industry, preferably in an airport environment of which 2 years in a supervisory role OR 4 years functional experience within aviation industry, preferably in an airport environment of which 3 years in a supervisory role
Fluent in English and Portuguese
Post graduate qualification will be an advantage
Conversant in airline check-in/reservations systems, Microsoft, industry trends/needs, host Country Legislation

Job Purpose
The Sales Specialist is responsible for the retail channel in their sales territory, including the key account management of existing and new retail outlets, thereby ensuring the effective implementation of the sales plan, revenue budgets, and achievement of targets.

The role provides focused retention and development of a customer base, management of customer relationships, and training and development of the sales team. The Sales Specialist role will involve leading the GSA sales team, managing key accounts, and collaborating with various departments to enhance sales performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, preferably within the airline or travel industry, and possess excellent leadership and communication skills

Principal Accountabilities
Establish business objectives and goals for the channel; ensuring financial targets are met and cost budgets are contained; operate within the agreed expenditure budget
Achieve and deliver on set revenue budgets and targets
Manage and control budget in area of responsibility and contribute to business unit budget management
Develop and implement a sales plan for the retail channel and sales team; establishing a customer focus channel on a sales territory basis
Provide input to the Commercial Performance Strategy design and implement strategy within area/s of responsibility
Manage the implementation of the Leisure, Corporate and Retail strategy
Recommends and standardises policies, processes and systems to support implementation of the strategy
Drive profitability in area of responsibility and overall business unit
Provide recommendations to actively support cost and headcount containment
Maximize existing customer potential and identify new business opportunities to generate incremental revenue, market penetration and development
Develop and implement a marketing promotional plan for the channel; brand awareness and effective communication with customers
E-commerce; establish a strong sales focus in line with the strategy to reducing redistribution costs; cost of sale in relation to override agreements in ensuring direct collaboration with customers
Provide pricing input on key account corporate rates and direct sales pricing strategies
Handle the negotiation of contracts with key accounts; head office consortiums and retail outlets
Understand Customer analysis, segmentation refocused to give priority on increasing yield
Understand the requirements of different market segments, through constantly improved products and services to reflect those requirements, and through the more effective use of customer relations management
Operate within the set sales standards and guidelines in terms of contract negotiations and value propositions
