Accounts Payable Accountant

Location: Maputo, Mozambique

Purpose of Job
To enable and facilitate purchasing and accounting operations and communications and conduct clerical tasks in order to support accurate and timeous reporting activities.

Key Accountabilities
Support and implement the review of follow ups and queries within accounts payable control accounts;
Follow ups conducted within agreed time and support the achievement of above baseline people survey results;
Conduct reconciliations of high quality with follow-up notes on outstanding items older than 30 days;
Schedule of measures as requested by Snr Principle in order to effectively track productivity results;
Conduct investigates and resolve queries on supplier invoices to ensure timely payment thereof;
Evaluate discrepancies investigated and resolved;
Conduct payments reconciled against vendor statement for key vendors;
Execute defined basic financial transactional activities;
Record and log all queries on the appropriate system and provide input into the regular and accurate reports on reporting metrics, KPIs and other agreed goals as requested by the Snr Manager Accounts Payable;
Execute processing of payments and payments terms per supplier agreements or on resolution of queries;
Timeous and accurate payments of creditors and complete accurate supporting document to support payment process;
Timeous and accurate completion of Key Vendor Reconciliations;
Ensure the high quality key vendor reconciliation with proper descriptions and follow-up actions noted and documented;
Accurate tracking schedule of items as required by standard measuring process and long outstanding items are investigated and reported to assist in resolving the queries;
Ensure adherence to safety standards;
Comply to Sasol safety process and requirement ensuring that regular safety inspections do not find safety contraventions.
Formal Education
High School / School Diploma or similar

Purpose of Job

The purpose of the Senior Manager Finance Mozambique role is to be the Finance Lead business partner facilitator for the PSA and PPA licenses for their plant operations in Temane.

Lead and manage the finance business partnering activities including performance management process, budgeting, forecasting as well as overall integrity of financial controls and reporting to various stakeholders.

Work closely with various operational Senior Managers and the VP Southern Africa Assets to drive performance management for the plant’s operations process including but not limited to production volumes, operating and capital expenditure, governance, and compliance amongst other key performance indicators.

The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of overall operations business management objectives, business performance management and day-to-day integrated business processes and activities in the Oil and Gas industry. They should have enough knowledge of gas and liquid processing operations and be able to challenge where value is being diluted.

Long term purpose includes the management of a team responsible for all the in-country reporting requirements including the Government of Mozambique, Unincorporated Joint Venture partners and Sasol statutory reporting requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Facilitating the operations integrated planning, management and controlling process within business on a continuous basis to address issues arising from the operations review process that require resolution (e.g. KPI variance outside tolerance, major planned event misses, major changes to the budget, long-term positive or negative bias, changes to key assumptions. Etc.);
  • Ensure key business issues are reconciled, recommendations are proposed, and the performance pack is prepared to support effective business decisions;
  • Close liaison with respective operational heads of the operation plant facility integrated business process, to ensure all key issues are surfaced, and changes, recommendations are proposed;
  • Serve as a key support to the Senior Manager Business (Asset Manager) working hand in hand to deliver key information to enable the business decisions;
  • Supporting development and delivery of solutions to key business issues, ensuring that majority of business challenges and opportunities are considered and resolved through the integrated business process;
  • Improve/Optimise current system and procedures to serve the needs of a growing operations on site;
  • Optimisation of the cost structure to ensure resources are used to its full capacity;
  • Continuous management and measurement of the execution of the short- and medium-term budget plans in relation to cost and capital expenditure;
  • Participate in relevant daily, weekly and monthly operational meetings for the plant operations and to remain aware of emerging issues that require linkage to the above and other process;
  • Support performance management mindset, continuous improvement processes and facilitate strategy formulation and execution;
  • Establish a continuity plan by ensuring skill transfer to the team to ensure 2 successor options are available and ready in 5 years;
  • Establish, maintain and drive sound and effective internal control environment, including SOX processes;
  • Overall responsibility for the finance activity in the operations plant facility with overall accountability for: The full financials (volumes, income, costs, capex and cash reporting) at asset level; 5-year budgeting process including volumes, cost and rolling capital plan, forecasting (24 months rolling) for working capital, costs and cash, from a bottom-up plan; The provision of a monthly performance pack to support effective business decisions; Working capital across the business focusing on plant inventory; Capital value process and its approval process; Present, set recommendations and discuss the business financial reports to management.

University Bachelors Degree

Post Graduate Masters Degree in Business Management or Commerce
