Position: Financial Manager
As a Financial Manager, you will be responsible for effectively managing the financial health of our practice. Your key responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, managing budgets, and providing strategic financial insights to support the continued growth and success of our projects and business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, financial risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare regular financial statements and reports for senior leadership.
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve financial performance and support business planning.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a financial role, preferably within a consulting or construction/building environment.
- Professional certifications are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of financial statements on Caseware for small to medium-sized entities.
- VAT calculations and submission of VAT201s.
- PAYE calculations and submission of EMP201s, as well as EMP501 reconciliations with tax certificates. Payroll processing, including a solid understanding of salary calculations.
- Completing individual tax returns (ITR12).
- Understanding company tax structures with a focus on strategic tax benefits. Must be able to analyze and implement effective group structures to ensure optimal tax efficiency. An example of such a group structure may include a company, directors, their spouses, trusts, and children.
- Completing company tax returns and trust tax returns (ITR14s and ITR12Ts).
- Working knowledge of accounting software, including SimplePay, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Sage, and Xero.
- Additional tasks inherent to an accounting firm, as responsibilities are not limited to those listed above.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting practice.
- Own car is essential.
- A degree or diploma in accounting is essential.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Open-minded approach to accounting, with an understanding of materiality in numbers.
- The first three months will not be hybrid, as training and onboarding will take place in-office during the trial period.
- Ability to understand and speak Afrikaans is essential.

Nomination for Election to the SAIPA Board
COMPANY NAME: South African Institute of Professional Accountants
Call for Nominations: 1 (one) Independent Board Member and 1 (one) Board Member
SAIPA Members are invited to nominate one Independent board member who is not a SAIPA member and one board member who may be a SAIPA member, to fill two vacancies on the SAIPA Board that have arisen. Each candidate must be nominated by, and the nomination must be seconded by, members in good standing in any category of SAIPA’s membership.
Such nominees will be considered for election and appointment at the SAIPA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June 2025.
It is essential that nominations are submitted on the attached, specified nomination form, on or before the specified date for the submission of nominations, and that the submissions include the following:
- A signed and fully completed Nomination Form.
- A signed letter of acceptance from the nominee.
- A curriculum vitae (CV) of the nominee, tailored specifically for this position, including 3 (three) contactable professional references who are well suited to respond to questions relevant to the role.
- Certified copies of the nominee’s qualifications and identity document.
- A confirmation from SAIPA’s Compliance officer of the proposer and seconder’s good standing status.
Members should please note that nominations that are submitted without the aforesaid documents will be deemed to be invalid and therefore, excluded from the nominations process.

SAIPA has, over the last 40 (forty) years, become a leading Professional Accountancy Organisation (PAO) in South Africa, playing an increasingly strong leadership role in developing the profession locally, in Africa and internationally as well as facilitating the entry of previously disadvantaged individuals into the field. SAIPA has evolved into the country’s premier Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) for qualified accounting practitioners who perform all accounting related and business engagements except external auditing.

Role Description:
SAIPA seeks two experienced individuals to serve on its Board of Directors to assist the Board in the discharge of its duties to the Institute, in line with the SAIPA Constitution and By Laws. The Board members must have the requisite skills, experience and qualifications to serve in that role.
Candidate Criteria: Independent Board Member
- May not be a SAIPA Member.
- At least 5 (five) years of experience serving on a Board of Directors.
- Credible professional in a professional field (Audit, Accountancy, Finance, Engineering, Law etc).
- Have no conflict of interest, actual or perceived, including board or executive positions at competing organisations.
- Previous experience in the aforementioned professional field.
- Ethical integrity and transparency.
- Sufficient knowledge of SAIPA’s business and operations.
- Sound business judgement gained through experience and expertise in managerial, technical, financial, governance and/or regulatory matters.
- Effective communication skills, cultural and emotional intelligence and maturity, flexibility, ability to balance risk with opportunity, ability to juggle multiple variables and the ability to contribute to a meeting of the minds in complex decision making.
- Excellent, demonstrated, leadership skills/qualities.
- Excellent, demonstrated, knowledge and experience of corporate governance principles.
- Excellent financial literacy and demonstrated strategy skills.
- Business, governance and/or finance management experience in the financial sector and/or alternative dispute resolution would be advantageous.
- Experience as a business leader that understands how to motivate employees at all levels, in both financial and non-financial ways and how SAIPA can derive value for members through people.
- A “Certified Director “, “Chartered Director” designation or membership of an appropriate professional body will be an advantage.
