The role:

The role is responsible to continuously monitor and analyse safety data and systems to minimize and mitigate employee exposure to unsafe and hazardous conditions. The role coordinates the maintenance of systems by conducting daily, weekly, and monthly analysis. Reporting the findings to the relevant line manager for action plans to be implemented and maintaining effective procedures and systems. Ensure compliance to the MHSA requirements in terms of reporting and inspections.

 
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • To conform to legal requirements and duties of 2.17.4.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of safety officers
  • Ensure that safety officers conduct workplace inspections
  • Participate in Safety Audits ensuring all logistical arrangements in preparation for the audits are made
  • Participate in Operational Issue–based Risk Assessments and compile action plans from risk assessments performed
  • Ensure that the baseline risk assessment is up to date
  • Setup, participate and co-ordinate Safety departmental meetings with all necessary stakeholders, including line managers and safety representatives
  • Participate in SOP and COP updates and document drafting
  • Compile reports that need to be submitted monthly to the Manager
  • Conduct training and coaching
  • Lead / facilitate investigations and complete the required records as per MHSA
  • Complete reports that need to be submitted to Divisional Safety
  • Isometrix support to end users

 Requirements:

  • Working towards completion of Degree/National Diploma in Safety Management, 10 subjects as minimum completed L1
  • Minimum of 3 years’ mining experience in health and safety
  • Mining or Technical professional with relevant Safety training and sound performance record inclusive of 1 year in middle management positions
  • Learning from incidents investigation (LFI) experience
  • In depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act, Mineral Regulations
  • Good understanding of Operational Risk Management (ORM), safety management theory, behavioural safety and risk management framework procedures and systems
  • Knowledge of Safety Management systems (Isometrix)
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • In possession of or able to obtain a certificate of fitness

The role:

To prepare payment schedules from commercial terms of contract, ensuring appropriate escalation and timeous invoicing by contractor/supplier. Investigate and advise on incomplete invoicing. Record contract costs against budget, investigate and report variations to contract owners. Provide forecast for inclusion in mining cost reported by operation.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Support the Contract Owner in executing his/her accountabilities
  • Support Contract Owner with Scope of work change requests
  • Accompany Contract Owners at SLA meetings with vendor and support Contract Owner in managing Contractor Performance
  • Attend site visits at the relevant Operation as and when required
  • Support contract owner in performing Control Self Assessments for applicable contractor management
  • Collate survey reports to verify quantity of services rendered by vendors for Mining Contracts
  • Perform monthly reconciliations between the Operations survey and the contractor’s reports
  • Performs diesel CAP’s reconciliations for applicable Contracts and sends to Contract Owner for sign-off
  • Report on and take actions if there are deviations from service level agreements
  • Manage and ensure cost is complete
  • Ensure Contractor compliance to scope of work as per contract
  • Assist in compiling and maintaining the Operations Contractor database
  • Create requisitions for common services on behalf of all Operation end-users as identified

Requirements:

  • National Advanced Certificate in Contract Management or related field
  • Minimum 3 years working experience
  • Have knowledge of safety regulations, company policies and procedures

Advantageous:

  • Understanding of accounting policies and ERP systems (SAP)

Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations, and supporting the broader finance function with budgeting, reporting, and audit preparation. This role contributes to sound financial stewardship and the effective execution of the company’s financial strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reconciliations, Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items timeously.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare general ledger journals to ensure timely month-end close processes.
  • Preparation, monitoring, and review of non-project  budgets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with IFRS and internal policies.
  • Support year-end statutory reporting and internal and external audit processes.
  • Assist with ad hoc reconciliations and reports as and when required.

  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve queries.
  • Review and approval of expense claims ensuring compliance with accounting and VAT requirements.

  • Assist in Grant Finance application and reporting in co ordination with project managers
  • Process and assist with ad hoc transactions as and when required.
  1. Tax & Compliance
  • Prepare VAT and Withholding tax reconciliations and ensure accurate and timely submission of statutory returns.

  1. Systems & Process Improvement
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of financial systems and processes.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (BCom Accounting or equivalent).
  • Completed articles or at least 2–3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g. NetSuite) and strong Excel skills.
