The role:
The role is responsible for ensuring that there is compliance by suppliers to contracts on all equipment repairs so that repairs are performed according to agreed upon standards and turnaround time.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Is responsible for ensure that suppliers comply with contractual agreements for repairing of items through taking part in the annual review of contracts as well as arranging the development of new contracts by Supply Chain and attending the yearly contractor meetings
- They must also ensure that end users comply to repair contracts by making use of contracted and approved repairers
- This role is accountable for the processes required to achieve effective repairable item tracing within the ERP
- The role will also be responsible to monitor and maintain equipment and components under repair, ensuring the turn-around time, quality and cost is acceptable while providing communication to the end user
- The role is responsible for expediting of all repair components on the operations using mechanical and electrical technical expertise
- The role supervises the Technical Expeditors
Requirements:
- National N4 Certificate and recognised Trade Test in the relevant discipline or National Diploma or Engineering Degree
- Safety and Risk Management Courses
- Minimum of 4 years trade experience coupled with 3 years’ experience as a Foreman or Maintenance Planner or Technical Expeditor in the Coal Mining industry
- Extensive experience in the maintenance of opencast and underground mining machinery
- In depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act and Minerals and Energy Act
- Knowledge of Seriti Engineering Codes of Practices, policies, and procedures
- Computer literacy in MS Office suite
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
- Experience in project management

The role:
Maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment used in mining operation. Ensuring equipment operates efficiently and meets safety standards.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Is responsible for safe maintenance and repair of conveyor belts equipment in order to ensure the availability and reliability thereof
- Is responsible for engineering technical compliance
- Perform inspections and work in accordance with the Mine Standards and Procedures and the Mine Health and Safety Act and regulations
- Recording of inspections, maintenance and repairs conducted to equipment on checklists and job cards
- Be able to identify faults and repair defects without supervision
- Maintain good housekeeping in responsibility
- Ensuring that all planning and productivity requirements are safely achieved
- Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments (RA) to perform in a safe and controlled manner
- Must be prepared to work shifts, overtime and standby duties
Requirements:
- Recognised Fitter or Fitter & Turner Trade Test Certificate
Internal Candidates
- Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) & Science, minimum E symbol with relevant two N2 Trade related subjects as per MQA guideline or N2 with four relevant trade related subjects as per MQA guideline. N2 trade related subject will be advantageous.
External Candidates
- Grade 12 with Math (Not Literacy) & Science, minimum E symbol with relevant two N2 Trade related subjects as per MQA guideline
- Gas Testing Certificate
- Flameproof Certificate
- Have sound knowledge of MHSA, safety systems and a high regard for safety, regulations and standards
- Proven excellent safety record
- Display good understanding of equipment & tools and uses thereof
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English
- Be able to cope effectively with pressure in a production environment, be innovative and a self-starter
- Be able to work in a team, carry out given instructions and give feedback effectively
- Be able to identify faults and repair defects without supervision
- Valid K53 driver’s license with own transport
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
- At least 2 years post-trade experience as a Fitter
- Experience on conveyor belts maintenance, conveyor belt installations and belt extensions.

The role:
To execute environmental assessments, inspections, monitoring and interrogation of monitoring results in line with all relevant statutory and company requirements. Report on any deviations or opportunities identified. Assist with the preparation of reports, the analysis of data and engaging authorities and service providers.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Track compliance to permits, licenses and authorisations to ensure that the operation meets its licence to operate obligations
- Log any non-conformances with the environmental management program on the event management system and escalate to line management
- Ensure accurate and timeous preparation and submission of internal environmental monitoring and inspection reports
- Assist the Environmental Superintendent / Specialist with the accurate and timeous reporting of all required company and legal environmental information
- Support the Environmental Superintendent and line management in the development of environmentally related policies, standards and procedures
- Attend and provide input on environmental issues in mine planning meetings. Ensure that there are no deviations from EIA commitments and license conditions
- Develop and execute environmental awareness programmes
- Support liaison with environmental regulatory authorities with regards to reporting, auditing activities and closing out directives issued
- Collaborate with line management and employees on addressing any shortcomings or non-conformances identified. Advise line management on mitigation measures and track preventative and corrective actions to completion
- Provide first line support to external environmental service providers and consultants with regards to site access, logistics, quality assurance on work outputs, etc
- Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections and audits on air, water, land, biodiversity and rehabilitation as per environmental management plan requirements
- Capture and maintain environmental monitoring results and environmental information in the computerised environmental management system (Isometrix)
- Contribute to and/or facilitate environmental event investigations and the development and implementation of preventative and/or corrective actions
- Assist in the development, control and monitoring of capital and operating budgets for the environmental function at the operation
Requirements:
- MSc – no experience or Honours / BSc / BTech in Natural / National Diploma or Higher Certificate/ Environmental Science or related field – 18 months to 3 years internship or similar relevant experience in environmental management
- Computer literacy in MS Office
- Valid driver’s license
- In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
- Introduction to ISO 14001 course
- Introduction to Project Management course
- Introduction to Environmental Law course
- Understanding of local environmental related legislation and reporting requirements for both company and local needs
- Understanding of environmental challenges in the coal mining industry
- In-depth understanding and application of environmental management systems (ISO)
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental impacts and aspects
