As part of the social responsibility initiatives, the NNR provides opportunities to unemployed graduates to receive workplace skills and experience.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Completed NQF level 7 in Physics or Chemistry or Environmental Management, or Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering
  • Minimum of 1-year regulatory experience or relevant industry experience
  • Be a South African citizen

Knowledge of the following:

  • Radiation Protection
  • Nuclear Safety
  • Waste Safety
  • Transport Safety
  • Environmental Protection


Skills Development and Training focus areas:

  • Participate in compliance assurance activities i.e. planned and unplanned inspections, environmental sampling, investigations, nuclear emergency exercise, project review meetings and radiological confirmatory surveys
  • Assist in the review of assigned compliance reports for adequacy and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Participate and assist with the Review of analysis results from Laboratory

Skills and Competencies

  • Ms Office Package
  • Teamwork
  • Good Communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Interpersonal skills
