- Factors influencing exports
- Food safety
- Product knowledge
- Cold chain management
- Total quality management systems and viability
- Recent innovations
A nominal amount is provided in the form of a stipend to assist with the students’ costs
Students are placed close to where they reside; However, due to the seasonal nature of the industry out-placement can be required.

Job Description
Robertson Region (De Doorns Sub-Area) 1 X Junior Assessor – Seasonal Talent Development Opportunities (Remainder of 24-month programme)
The Operations Department has a vacancy for 1 x Junior Assessor to independently conduct Cold Chain Inspections or Services according to standard protocols, work instructions and procedures as prescribed through PPECB‘s legislative mandate and for the developmental opportunities for some of our seasonal employees to gain additional competencies within the remainder of the 24-month period of the programme.
The purpose of the programme is to allow the incumbent sufficient time for product exposure; training; assessment; and soft skills. During the remainder of the 24-month period the selected delegates will be supported with a dedicated training plan and supervision by the region. The exposure and training will include:
- I-thrive (e.g., managing my time; dealing with conflict; etc.);
- Additional soft-skills courses to promote professional skills; and
- Additional courses to prepare for the new world of work (NWOW)
Depending on the regional needs; delegates of the programme may have the opportunity to take part in Relief Duty to receive exposure on additional products and will then be supported with accommodation and S&T allowance during such placements.
JOB DISCRIPTION:
- Monitor temperatures; supervise container loading at various loading points.
- Cold store survey.
- The minimum administrative tasks associated with the job level
- Communicate with various clients on own specific task and outcome of decisions
- Build and maintain good relations with PPECB clients
- Continuous self-improvement in their area of responsibility according to the PPECB performance framework
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification
- Practical experience, theoretical knowledge and competence in Container Loading
- Experience in various cold chain functions related to the specified geographical area would be advantageous.
- Computer Literate
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work independently and / or with minimum supervision
- Excellent customer service skills
- A valid code 08 driving license and own reliable vehicle is a requirement for doing the job.
- Own mobile phone.
Additionally, the following criteria will be reviewed:
- Relevant Service history to the job in question at the PPECB
- Competency records (verified by L&D)
- Performance records at the PPECB
- Disciplinary records during their service/contract at the PPECB

High level job objectives
• Capture new employees on Payroll System
• Update current employee profiles on Payroll System
• Verify documentation on HR Management System, and request outstanding documents
• Reconcile and verify data on HR Management System and Payroll System (terminations, appointments, all other payroll updates)
