Registrar’s Division

The Registrar’s Division invite suitably qualified candidates to join their team. 


Main Objectives

To strategically develop systems and processes in order to ensure the provision of an efficient, professional and quality administrative and secretariat support services to University Committees and governance structures of the University as required.

The Requirements

Any relevant NQF Level 7 Qualification (preferably in Administration) plus approximately 3-4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: –

  •  Excellent English language skills in writing succinct and synthesized reports and minutes
  • Previous experience in a Secretariat and Governance function, preferably within a Higher Education environment.
  • Previous experience working with committees including the scheduling and organizing meetings and a track record of doing so efficiently; the preparation of agendas for meetings; taking minutes of meetings; meeting deadlines with a track record of doing so.
  • Previous administrative experience within a computerised administration environment which includes good organisational and planning skills as well as problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Experience working with large volumes of work.
  • Track record of using technology to create efficiencies and improve service.
  • Track record of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead a team and previous supervision/management experience of at least three years.
  • Experience in website content management is an advantage.
  • Excellent typing skills, including typing draft minutes/notes in a meeting.

Coordinator II: B.Ed. FP X 3 (5 year contract) 

The Centre for Social Development Department invite suitably qualified candidates to join their team.

Main Objectives

  • To coordinate and manage all functions for the delivery of the B.Ed. Foundation Phase (part-time, in-service) programs within the portfolio of CHE-accredited programs include planning, coordinating the programs and the staff team, facilitating, recording, gathering data on aspects of the programs, and writing and presenting detailed reports.
  • To facilitate learning in relevant modules and courses at appropriate levels (that is, through all years of the B.ED. from year 3 through year 7)
  • To facilitate curriculum coordination of all programs within the B.Ed. FP (part-time, in-service) to ensure alignment with the B.Ed. FP (Full-time, Pre-service).
  • To participate in the work of the Senior Management Team (SMT) of CSD.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Education Honours or equivalent degree (NQF level 8), (a Master’s degree would be an advantage), plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience, and includes: –

  • Experience within the ECD and primary school environment (for example, teaching children), and CD (for example, working with parents, communities of interest) sectors
  • Experience facilitating learning with adults
  • Experience co-ordinating and or facilitating a professional development 5progam or adult training program
  • Experience managing programs
  • Experience writing reports
  • Experience setting exams and assessments, including the written evaluation thereof
  • Experience conducting site support visits as part of assessment
  • Experience within a computerised administrative environment
  • A research record
  • Strong track record of service delivery (e.g. attrition and throughput rates)

Procurement

Main Objectives
To provide a professional transactional procurement service to the University by creating purchase orders from purchase requisitions and managing the purchase order lifecycle through to their closure. To provide helpdesk support to registered suppliers and prospective suppliers who seek to register on the supplier database. Responsible for providing functional and end-user support to requisitioners.The Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent plus approximately 3 years relevant experience where such experience includes:

  • Previous experience in a pressurised computerised accounting and/or administrative environment.
  • Experience in using and maintaining electronic administrative systems.
  • Experience in capturing and processing high volumes of data and information in a mainframe system.
  • Previous experience in procurement, supplier database administration and purchasing.
  • Previous experience in procurement using the Oracle Cloud finance system.

Manager: Payroll

Manager: Payroll (Grade 15)

Finance Division

The Finance Division invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team. 


Main Objectives
To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Payroll Section within the Finance Division. The Payroll Manager plays a pivotal role in the accurate and timely processing of payroll and related transactions, in line with the Payroll Governance Framework, to ensure good governance and sound controls to comply with legislation, policies, and procedures. In addition, the Payroll Manager, in consultation with the People and Culture Division and the I&TS Division, leads continuous improvements of payroll-related business processes and systems aligned to the Payroll Governance Framework, ensuring more efficient and effective, strengthening controls, and contributing to the objectives of the University.

The Requirements

A relevant B. Degree (NQF Level 7) plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience, where relevant experience includes: –

  • Working in a Finance/Accounting environment with proven experience in payroll processing of a large employee base of at least a thousand and multiple payrolls (ideally monthly and weekly).
  • Previous payroll systems experience, preferably VIP
  • Previous experience ensuring compliance in line with prevailing legislation, specifically related to but not limited to PAYE, UIF, LRA, BCEA and relevant financial legislation
  • Previous experience working with SARS online systems, SARS-related submissions and managing SARS verifications and audits
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing a payroll team
  • Intermediate Excel skills with a willingness to learn advanced Excel
  • Experience in a Higher Education Institution will serve as an advantage
