Position Purpose

To provide highly technical support for TPL’s critical IT systems such as SAP, SAP MII, SAP Portal, Tarlton Dispatch System and Dispatch System Interfaces, TPL Metering System Interface, as well as the critical function of IT systems backup. The SAP Technical Basis Analyst role is to ensure the smooth functioning of the above mentioned critical systems in such a way as to minimise disruption to TPL’s core business functions and processes. In so doing, the role has a direct impact on TPL’s revenue and reputation with external clients. The support of the Tarlton Distribution System is critical to maintaining TPL’s undertaking to provide Botswana with a consistent fuel supply, in accordance with the agreement between the government of South Africa and the Botswana Government. The ultimate responsibility is to provide efficient service to internal and external customers on a 24/7 basis.

Position Outputs

The support of all SAP systems which include a three tier SAP ERP System in accordance with international standards The system which consists of a development tier, a quality control tier and a production tier is used for the enterprise resource planning (financials, costing, materials management, plant maintenance, pipeline management, terminal management, product quality, human resources, asset management, sales and distribution and incident reporting systems), the SAP Enterprise Portal (pipeline and distribution business order entry by customers), SAP MII (integration and monitoring of operations systems like SCADA, metering etc.), KPRO (Document Management system for technical drawings and attached business documentation), SPP (business process training documentation) and SAP Solution Manager (control of SAP system for SAP projects and system upgrades).
• Management of all SAP logical security to include the SAP users authorisation profiles and business roles, passwords and access control. This also includes the management of external parties such as TPL customers from the oil companies and consultants, auditors etc. • Support of SAP Basis includes the following: • Configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting the SAP technical environment on an ongoing basis as well as scheduling and executing the SAP transport system and creation/maintenance of interfaces into the SAP system. • Maintain the multiple SAP installations that comprise the SAP environment (development, quality assurance and production). • Implement an optimal SAP configuration to maximize system performance and availability. • The SAP Production systems are replicated asynchronously off site, for Disaster Recovery – this includes the operating system, application and databases
• The Disaster Recovery Process is tested bi-annually and witnessed and evaluated by the Auditors. • Installation and configuration of all SAP database and application servers • Ensure that segregation of duties standards are adhered to for all system users including Oracle Databases, the Unix operating systems and SQL for the windows operating systems as well as Maxdb which is the database used on KPRO. (This represents 14 application installations, 2 different operating systems and 3 different databases) • Help with the management of SAP users, authorisations, and profiles through the SAP GRC system. Any violations for Segregation of Duties must be removed or mitigated by system monitoring. • Carry out all Client Copies required by business • Patch Management (system updates and fixes) • System capacity and performance management • Analysis of SAP system and error logs and take corrective action • Capacity planning
• Implementation of SAP Support Packages • Upgrade to latest Enhancement Packs • Upgrade to latest Operating systems for AIX Unix • Server availability and scheduled downtime for maintenance • Start and stop servers • Follow change control procedures • Trouble shoot all system errors • Guide and direct consultants and outsource service providers • Disaster recovery system • Scheduling and implementing of backups for all systems via the TSM backup system • Manage the offsite storage of system backup media • Ensure the integrity of system Backups
• Ensure the integrity and smooth running of the offsite system replication (DR site for all systems) • Liaise with the rest of the ICT Team for support when required. • Responsible for building a relationship and maintaining project team satisfaction with the project application team leads and other team leads. • Manage relationship with service providers and ensure they are meeting all service levels and responsibilities. • Define and implement process improvement measures within the environment. • Ensure all proper change management and problem management processes are followed. • Mentor other Basis support team and others to share knowledge and lessons learned. • Compile detail statistics & graphs for monthly reports to show trends and optimize systems. • Give input to the composition work plans for activations/deactivations/upgrades/moves and execute.
Maintenance and Administration of IBM Power Series servers which includes creating & copying of logical partitioning of systems, SAN switches configurations, Network Installation Server and configure VIOS • Maintenance and Administration the IBM V7000 Storwise SAN which includes the flash copies, data migration, remote copies and data replication • Administration & Maintenance of Windows server, which includes storage management, manage Tivoli Storage Manager backup’s and • Manage SQL databases including backups

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or other relevant NQF level 7 qualification in Information Technology is required. • A min of 4 years of experience in a similar position within an IT environment, with demonstrated experience in SAP Basis systems. • 4 years of experience in database management and in the maintenance of AIX Unix operating systems, • 2 years’ experience in the use of IBM’s TSM backup system • Experience in ECC 6

Position Purpose

Position Outputs

• Consult with external vendors as part of the maintenance and support process to identify solutions to complex business problems. • Have a full understanding of change control lifecycles and adhere to the prescripts and requirements of the change control process. • Collaborates with Operating Divisions in providing innovative solutions to systems that are in the production environment. • Leads a team of external staff and 3rd party service providers in providing both technical and functional support for SAP FI systems in the production environment. • Responsible for ensuring skills transfer take place to junior staff as well as ensuring where applicable skill is transferred from external staff to Transnet employees.

Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelors Degree or equivalent in an Information Technology related discipline is required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in IT product development and support functions. Minimum of 5 years experience Standard Job Requirements • Driver’s license code 08 • Travel as required and approved

Position Purpose

To ensure the optimal utilization of high voltage overhead track equipment by performing maintenance, alterations, construction and repairs to overhead track equipment, transmission line and negative return circuits according to prescribed quality and safety standards in live and dead working conditions.

Position Outputs

1. To supervise trade hands, infra-assistants, trainee traction linesman, contractors and unauthorized personnel ▪ To ensure that all workers have the correct PPE ▪ To provide instructions to the team ▪ To put control measures in place to ensure that tasks are completed ▪ To ensure that the team understands the tasks needed to be performed ▪ To explain the dangers involved in the tasks to be performed ▪ To maintain a presence on site so that instructions are adhered to ▪ To ensure that the right materials and tools are used ▪ To ensure that there is sufficient manpower and capacity to perform tasks ▪ To render first aid and hazmat when necessary

7. To ensure that workers on site adhere to safety standards ▪ Conduct green area / toolbox safety talks before commencement of work ▪ Explain dangers and risks involved ▪ Explain safe working procedures ▪ Make sure that everyone understands what is needed ▪ Ensure that flag protection is afforded ▪ Make sure that workers are wearing the correct PPE
8.
