Financial Operations Analyst

As a Financial Operations analyst, you will be accountable for supporting the Financial Operations Manager in ensuring a timely, accurate and complete end-to-end settlements process for all London Trading Desks within the Oil Group. You will support the team to ensure all settlements targets and KPI’s are met.

The main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Completion of the day-to-day workload as prescribed by your manager.
  • Ensuring resolution of any day-to-day operational issues and escalating where appropriate.
  • Building relationships both internally and externally to create and support business information flow.
  • Liaising with internal desks/teams, in particular Treasury, operations and risk management, on the resolution of settlement disputes.

Qualifications and requirements

Metricstream Solution Support Analyst

ERM Industrial Assets Department

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled MetricStream Solution Support Analyst to join the MetricStream platform team at Glencore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, triaging and managing the change requests and enhancement logs from across the teams, making technical changes to the platform based on business needs, executing quality assurance on the changes made to the platform and ensuring the smooth operation of the MetricStream platform. Payroll Operations Partner

We are seeking a highly motivated Payroll Operations Partner to be part of a Payroll Services and Global HR team in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are embarking on a significant change to enhance the way we deliver Payroll and HR Services to our network of global marketing and corporate offices. These offices, which vary in size, host our corporate and marketing employees engaged in front, middle, and back-office roles that supports its functions.

The HR Hub supports the HR administration for multiple Glencore offices globally. The HR Hub is based on a shared services model and provides a portfolio of services including Payroll and HR Services. The Payroll Operations Partner will work regionally delivering the payroll operations to a cluster of locations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Primary Task & Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll regulatory oversight, with guidance from Regional Leads, HR Hub Lead and payroll services provider
  • Within the global payroll operating model, responsible for multiple payrolls operationally, which includes:
    • Ensure that all relevant payroll related input is loaded to the outsourced service provider’ portal
    • Monitoring integration performance (payroll data from Workday and/or SuccessFactors to payroll services provider)
    • Adherence to the payroll processing calendar, e.g. ensure input deadlines met
    • Validates payroll output, i.e. processing output from payroll services provider
    • Responds to queries on payroll input
    • Checks and approves final payroll, reporting controls
  • End of pay cycle requirements, including:
    • Monitoring integration performance (GL to SAP and pay-slips to Workday and/or SuccessFactors)
    • Forecasts funding requirements and responding to Accounting / Finance queries
    • Monthly reports, quarterly and annual reports, as may be required
  • Benefits regulatory oversight and implementation of mandatory occupational benefits,
  • Benefit enrolment and management, in so far as is relevant for accurate payroll processing
  • Manage deductions and payments to various third parties, where applicable
  • Participates in Workday and/or SuccessFactors enhancement for the employee experience and for payroll operational efficiency
  • Maintains local Standard Operating Procedures for countries in scope (adopting and championing Global Operating Model)

•    Accuracy during weighing of trucks by ensuring the weighbridge is in good condition by cleaning of the chrome spillages underneath the scales using shovels, brooms, and pressure water hose pipe. This includes the cleaning of spillages on top of the scale to ensure precise measurements
•    Ensure that the load cells are free from spillage on top for precise measurements
•    Open the weighbridge covers for inspection during the periodic calibration and services, or when requested

Senior Quantitative Risk Analyst

Risk Department

The Glencore Risk Department is an independent function aiming to control front-line trading. The Risk Department ensures that the risk-reward of the trading books is properly understood by Glencore senior management and that the physical exposure of the business is correctly valued.

This position requires the candidate conceive and implement models for fair value and to monitor the risk embedded in the company’s portfolio, to perform sensitivity and other relevant risk analyses in order for the Risk function to make sure it stays within the company’s risk appetite.

We are looking for a motivated senior quantitative analyst to join our Risk Department. The ideal candidate will be well versed in financial model creation using various programming languages.  The role is based in our office in Melrose, Johannesburg.

The Melrose team acts as a service organisation for the Metals, Minerals and Coal Risk team based in Baar, Switzerland.

Responsibilities

Pricing Model Conception and Implementation:

  • Create financial models to value complex structured transactions and products involving physical and implied optionality in the metals space
  • Work with other risk streams (Market/Valuation/Product/Credit Risk) and trading to ensure complex exposures are appropriately captured and represented, considering materiality and resources required to develop the model
  • Participate in the assessment of new businesses and new transactions where modelling might be required
  • Maintain a model library including model documentation, assist with model validation

Risk Tools Implementations:

  • Work with Credit Risk department for the development of complex derived credit metrics (e.g. PFE) and the ad-hoc assessment of material new transactions
  • Maintain and improve VaR and stress models

Volatility fitter:

  • Implement and maintain tools for constructing volatility surfaces by best approximating market-based option prices through parametric volatility models.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  • Engage closely with IT and Market Data departments to develop internal valuation tools and implementation of models
  • Provide tactical support with ongoing projects where quantitative skills are required
  • Communicate results effectively with the risk function, trading and senior management

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in a quantitative analyst role, in a trading company or financial institution, modelling structured and exotic products (physical and financial), Wiener processes, Turnbull-Wakeman Asian options and similar
  • Masters’ Degree or higher in financial mathematics or related quantitative fields
  • Experience in commodities (both physical and paper) is preferred
  • Excellent coding skills in VBA and Python essential for the role
