Purpose of Job

To assemble non-electric delay initiation systems on a manual assembly machine

.

Key Accountabilities

  • Crimping & Blocking of the Explosives 
  • Coiling of the shock tube  Sealing & Tagging of the Explosives 
  • Explosives Packaging 
  • Assemble different products according to the specifications on the lot traveller.
  • Competency required on all the different assembly machines (crimping machine, coiling machine, sealing machine, tagging machine).
  • Operators may be required to operate two machines simultaneously. 
  • Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure that all units meet specified customer requirements. 
  • Do stock count on all the raw materials in the production area. 
  • Bundle, count and pack assembled units in boxes according to specified requirements as stipulated on the lot traveller 
  • General housekeeping inside the assembly area. 
  • Do measurements of specifications using relevant measuring tools and capture information on the lot traveller e.g. Vernier calliper. 
  • Adjust the settings of the equipment/machine according to the specific product specifications as indicated on the lot traveller 
  • Operators are also required to report on daily production and breakdowns 
  • Manually updating production graphs after daily production on the wall next to each production cell 
  • Good communication skills (proficient in English) 
  • Be able to work under pressure 
  • Be able to work full shifts and overtime 
  • Consciences and diligent  Detail oriented 
  • Maintain a high standard of integrity

Work Experience

To prepare raw materials, mix delay pyrotechnics and fill into lead tubes that are used in a downstream process, in the form of a delay train that determines the timing of non-electric detonators 

Key Accountabilities

Preparation of raw materials (screening, weighing and swaging) for use in manufacturing of stubbies and to ensure good quality product.

Charging of raw materials and mixing of different compositions.

Visual inspection of mixture to ensure homogeneity.

Split the mixed powders through Pyropod/Splitter to smaller container for storage and safe handling downstream.

Fill mixed powders into lead tubes by Auguring or Thumping process, within process specifications (monitoring), for use as raw material in downstream process.

Frequent quality inspection to ensure high quality.

Daily weight verification of balance to ensure accurate weighing.

Monitor stock of raw material in the plants to optimize mixing efficiency.

SHE systems requirements- grounding testing, humidity monitoring, safety observations and waste water handling.

Maintain good housekeeping including 5S, to prevent safety incidents.

Wash the team’s contaminated PPE as required, to protect against heavy metals exposure.

Purpose of Job

To assemble non-electric delay initiation systems on a manual assembly machine

.

Key Accountabilities

  • Crimping & Blocking of the Explosives 
  • Coiling of the shock tube  Sealing & Tagging of the Explosives 
  • Explosives Packaging 
  • Assemble different products according to the specifications on the lot traveller.
  • Competency required on all the different assembly machines (crimping machine, coiling machine, sealing machine, tagging machine).
  • Operators may be required to operate two machines simultaneously. 
  • Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure that all units meet specified customer requirements. 
  • Do stock count on all the raw materials in the production area. 
  • Bundle, count and pack assembled units in boxes according to specified requirements as stipulated on the lot traveller 
  • General housekeeping inside the assembly area. 
  • Do measurements of specifications using relevant measuring tools and capture information on the lot traveller e.g. Vernier calliper. 
  • Adjust the settings of the equipment/machine according to the specific product specifications as indicated on the lot traveller 
  • Operators are also required to report on daily production and breakdowns 
  • Manually updating production graphs after daily production on the wall next to each production cell 
  • Good communication skills (proficient in English) 
  • Be able to work under pressure 
  • Be able to work full shifts and overtime 
  • Consciences and diligent  Detail oriented 
  • Maintain a high standard of integrity 
  • Fosters teamwork and collaboration 
  • Able to work on your own with little supervision 

Work Experience

  • 6+ months experience in Explosives manufacturing
  • Experience working at Final Assembly (S4) will be an added advantage

Formal Education

  • Grade 12
  • Maths and Science will be an advantage

Purpose of Job

The manual assembly of non-electric delay detonators

Key Accountabilities

  • Assemble different products according to the specifications on the lot traveller.
  • Competency required on all the different assembly machines (shell loader, PETN charger and press, Lead Azide charger and press, Element press, pack out press, Iso cup plating and Packer, DIB press, Delay plating, CD transferring and inspection).
  • Do quality checks on assembled products to ensure that all units meet specified customer requirements.
  • Do a stock count of all the raw material in the production area. Sampling of debts for time testing and x-ray verification.
  • General Housekeeping inside the plant
  • Do measurements of specifications using relevant measuring tools and capture information on the lot traveller.
  • Adjust the settings of the equipment/machine according to the specific product specifications as indicated on the lot traveller.
  • Handling of live Lead Azide and PETN when loading and unloading at machines.
  • Ensure that equipment and machines are clean and free of any pyrotechnic powder and explosives before scheduled maintenance (bi-weekly).
  • Removing and replacing PETN press, CD press, Element press and inspection pins during maintenance.
  • Removing and replacing of CD insertion and LA press pins daily.
  • Handling of graphite when preparing charge plates to be used in production.
  • Additional: Must be able to work full shifts and overtime 

Formal Education

Grade 12 or Equivalent with Maths & Science

Minimum Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in Explosives Manufacturing
  • Plant specific experience (Caps Plant) will be an added advantage
