Laboratory Intern (Temporary)

Responsibilities

Job Overview:Co-ordinate all data collation on shift for reporting process statistics. Responsible for equipment calibration on shift in order to determine accurate information. In addition, day to day lab analysis.

  • Investigate out of specification results and implement corrective actions. 
  • Ongoing trouble shooting to identify possible causes of problems and to improve quality results and accuracy of data. 
  • Feedback results on shifts to frontline with respect to opportunities and possible corrective action.

Maintenance Fitter – Epping Oats Plant

Responsibilities

Job Overview: To provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and risk-free by safely performing plant and machinery maintenance (electrical, mechanical, facilities) as per PEPSICO and OHS Act requirements, maintenance strategies include Planned, Corrective and Proactive Maintenance.

Equipment Installation and Alignment

  • Dismantle, assemble, install, and align machinery and equipment according to specifications and operational requirements.
  • Maintain competence to work on blowers, compressors, and facility systems.

Preventive and Corrective Maintenance

  • Ensure all plant machinery and equipment are maintained in safe, reliable, and efficient working conditions through routine and preventive maintenance.
  • Identify and repair mechanical faults promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Complete all scheduled mechanical preventive maintenance job cards on time, maintaining a completion rate of over 95% per month.
  • Update and close out scheduled SAP Preventive Maintenance (PM) reports as required.

Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety standards, regulations, and company procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Work at Height (WAH), Hot Work, and Confined Space permits for maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Complete all Quality, Food Safety (QFS), and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) training and toolbox talks on schedule.
  • Report hazards, conduct Gemba walks, close out non-conformances (NCs), and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Implement and record at least one near-miss report per month to promote proactive safety culture.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Accurately record all maintenance work, inspections, and repairs in maintenance logs or the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Ensure all MESS and FCAP findings are addressed and completed within the required time frame.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring stock items and critical spares are counted, booked, and managed effectively.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for technical and process improvements within maintenance and production operations.
  • Implement and execute innovative solutions to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Actively contribute ideas and support ongoing continuous improvement and innovation projects.

Cost and Resource Management

  • Manage maintenance budget within 2% of the approved annual operating plan (AOP), controlling expenditure on critical spares and stock items.
  • Optimize resource usage to achieve cost-effective maintenance operations.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production staff and other trades to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding maintenance priorities, equipment status, and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Matric/N3 Mechanical Trade Theory & Mechanical Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) required.
  • Welding knowledge and experience; basic intermediate metal fabrication skills.
  • Minimum 5 years’ mechanical maintenance experience; FMCG/FMEA experience advantageous.
  • Leadership experience and ability to mentor or supervise team members.
  • Experience with SAP, Food Safe Welding, and milling equipment is an advantage.
  • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical systems, pumps, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including fault-finding and component replacement.
  • Align shafts, pulleys, sprockets and couplings for efficient machine operation.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and vibration analysis to prevent breakdowns.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and recommend corrective actions; strong troubleshooting and MTTR focus.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and environmental compliance.
  • Apply Hot Work, Confined Space, and Work-at-Height permit procedures; perform LOTO safely.
  • Identify hazards and implement control measures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively in reporting faults, handovers, and documentation.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and perform basic rigging safely.

Commercial Controller 

Responsibilities

Accountabilities

General

  • Lead the Commercial, A&M and Selling Control agenda to ensure accurate and timely management of accounts on a periodic, quarterly and annual basis including balance sheet.
  • Identify potential risks (routine and non-routine) and communicate to the SA Controller and respective Functional Leads
  • Lead commercial GCS control execution and remediation for respective controls within S2C, R2R & A&M (owned controls and Commercial/A&M owned control support)
  • Accountable for control review and approval for Commercial Trading Term Agreements and Marketing Contracts
  • Lead and review operational deep dive reviews to provide management with insights on effectiveness, gap analysis and related remediation
  • Collect and analyze risk information and ensure that the organization is adequately protected against loss in relation to assigned portfolio
  • Support the delivery of business change plans as required (Mergers, Acquisitions, Disposals, GTM resets, System implementations, etc.)
  • Control lead for pre-approval and mandatory sign-off for all process, system and policy related implementations and changes
  • Ensure local procedures and SOA are relevant (not overlapping a global policy unless specifically required) and updated in-line with business / legislative requirements
  • Review and approve the monthly Management Accounts (Flash), Operating Review, Balance Sheet Review and KPI’s

Net Revenue

  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of Net Revenue in line with PepsiCo Policy (P&L and Balance Sheet)
  • Lead mid-month D&A accruals review with NAMs, Channel Leads and Planning teams.
  • Ownership (Development & execution) of management insights for actual financial results via KPI dashboards and analytics
  • Lead the monthly operational governance and rebate KPI forums with Senior Commercial and Finance Leadership teams to drive business growth and improve business processes
  • Ownership of Net Revenue related Balance Sheet accounts reconciliations and reporting
  • Ownership for Net Revenue forward-looking provisions (stales, buybacks, pricing errors, settlement discounts and presell) in line with PepsiCo requirements
  • Custodian of FIFO Policy for the SA Cluster
  • Cash Flow optimization in line with company targets (P&L based)

Advertising & Marketing (A&M) and Selling

  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of A&M and Selling in line with PepsiCo Policy (P&L and Balance Sheet)
  • Custodian of Marketplace Spend Policy for the SA Cluster
  • Responsible for accurate accounting treatment and guidance on A&M spend, curving and year end accruals, in line with PepsiCo Policy
  • Ownership (Development & execution) of management insights for actual financial results via KPI dashboards and analytics

Qualifications

What will qualify you for the role:

  • Post Graduate degree in Financial Management Disciplines – CA(SA) is preferred
  • >10 years of relevant experience in FMCG or similar
  • Sound knowledge and experience in FMCG process development and execution
  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal and presentation
  • Strong project management and capability development skills
  • Exposure to broad people development / strategic techniques and programs, with an understanding of how to provide development support
