FACILITATOR: CENTRE of SPECIALISATION (CoS) – WELDER TRADE

Requirements

  1. At least a relevant recognized three-year qualification (REQV13) and/or qualified as a Welder with trade test passed (red seal)
  2. At least 3-5 years’ experience in the welder trade
  3. Experience in education and training
  4. Experience in Blended learning, i.e., innovative teaching practices with the use of educational technology
  5. Computer literacy in MS Office
  6. Good administrative skills
  7. Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  8. Ability to assess and moderate
  9. Knowledge of the Welder industry, the legislative and regulatory environment, as well as knowledge of, and experience in implementing Occupational Health and Safety regulations and requirements.
  10. A valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  1. Providing theoretical and practical training applicable to the Welder trade according to predetermined curriculum and lesson frameworks.
  2. Assess and/or moderate theoretical and practical competencies of learners in the programme against pre-determined requirements.
  3. Ensure that training equipment, workshops and related resources are available and in working order.
  4. Conducting regular inventory control.
  5. Perform administrative and management functions, including preparing and submitting reports to relevant authorities.
  6. Attend industry and training workshops as well as other prescribed training to ensure own continuous professional development.
  7. Plan the delivery of the qualification in such a way that the learners are prepared to complete and pass the relevant assessments and trade test.
  8. Manage the scheduling of learners for theory and industry placement according to the dual vocational learning programme.

  2. Registration as an Assessor and/or Moderator for the Welder trade
  3. Two years (minimum) training and/or workshop mentoring experience

DEPUTY CHIEF EDUCATION SPECIALIST (CAMPUS MANAGER) – PL5

Requirements

  1. An appropriate bachelor’s degree (NQF7) or equivalent teaching qualification at REQV14 or industry related qualification coupled with PGCE / any recognized TVET teaching qualification
  2. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in TVET teaching or facilitation experience
  3. At least two (2) years’ management experience

  4. Manage the compilation of the academic timetables of the campus.
  5. Assist with the initiation, management and operationalizing of academic industry linkages and partnerships.
  6. Report on the progress of achieving targets set for academic services to the Deputy Principal Academic Services
  7. Manage the division of work of lecturing staff at the campus, monitor performance of lecturing staff in their specific areas at the campus and build teaching capacity.
  8. Manage the provision of examination services.
  9. Manage student registration and student support services.
  10. Plan and implement personal well-being programmes for campus staff.
  11. Manage the implementation of progressive disciplinary procedures for staff and students.
  12. Oversee the administration of student financial aid and bursaries.

  14. Implement induction for all new academic services staff as well as campus induction for all staff.
  15. Provide input for budget purposes to the finance department and manage the allocated budget for academic services at the campus.
  16. Oversee the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety procedures at the campus.
  17. Manage the provision of residence services.
  18. Manage human resources, financial and physical resources.
