COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement social media campaigns across relevant platforms.

  • Initiate, compile and publish content on social media platforms on a continuous basis.
  • Monitor and analyse campaign performance, adjusting strategies to maximise reach and impact.

  • Compile media releases, advertorials, and content for various forms of media.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media houses and stakeholders.
  • Monitor media coverage and respond to enquiries or negative publicity where necessary.
  • Implement and manage communication and crisis communication strategies.
  • Drive internal communication initiatives and encourage employee engagement.
  • Serve as editor of NWK’s external publication (NWK Arena).
  • Serve as assistant editor of NWK’s staff publication.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communication, or marketing.
  • 5 – 6 years of experience in a corporate marketing, communication, or media environment.
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, video editing software and various social media platforms.
  • Sound knowledge of media industry practices, editorial standards, and regulations.

Purpose of the position:
The candidate will oversee the completion of clerical and administrative tasks at the retail outlet.

The responsibility of the position will include the following:

  • Operating the switchboard, part-time sales, bank deposits, and handling of petty cash;
  • Inventory control, which includes orders, receipts, shipments, transfers, price marking and inventory
    counting;
  • Customer service, which may include compiling quotes, special orders, handling product enquiries, etc.;

BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTS

Purpose of the position:
The building and maintenance assistant will be a hands-on worker and responsible for assisting the building and maintenance team leader with daily site duties, including but not limited to repair, maintenance and small building projects. The role includes performing general assistant/worker tasks such as preparing materials and supporting skilled workers with tiling, carpentry, fitting ceilings, building and other site related works. The assistant must be willing to learn new skills, participate in skills development and grow technically under the guidance of skilled workers as well as the building and maintenance team leader.

Responsibilities of the position will include the following:

  • Perform hands-on building and maintenance tasks, including:
    o Mixing mortar, concrete and plaster (under team leader supervision).
    o Carrying materials, tools and other equipment.
    o Cleaning and preparing works areas for work to be conducted.
    o Assisting with demolition work, including the removal of materials.
    o Holding, lifting and supporting materials during installation.
    o Assisting with preparations for tiling as well as tile installations.
    o Assisting with ceiling installations.
    o Assisting with basic carpentry work.
    o Assisting with the preparation of walls for painting – this includes sanding and other basic painting activities.
    o Assisting with basic plumbing tasks such as carrying pipes and preparing fittings, etc.
  • Loading and off-loading material.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised site.
  • Participating actively in on-the-job skills transfer from the team leader.
  • Demonstrating willingness to learn building trades such as:
    o Tiling;
    o Carpentry;
    o Plastering;
    o Painting;
    o Ceiling installation, etc.
  • Following all safety rules and instructions issued by the team leader.
  • Using tools safely and correctly.
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Reporting hazards and unsafe working conditions.

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Any additional certificates/trade certificates related to construction, building, plumbing etc. will be beneficial.
  • At least three to five (3 – 5) years’ experience in the building/maintenance sector related to civil infrastructure and building. Experience in grain storage
    sector will be beneficial.
  • Experience working with basic hand tools will be beneficial.
  • Medically fit to operate in the building and agricultural industry as well as to complete labour-intensive tasks.
  • Proven work experience and references
  • Assistants will be required to work in remote locations (NWK silos and other NWK sites) and will also be required to make use of remote and/or mobile
    accommodation when working in remote locations.
