In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Effectively execute the maintenance and engineering functions in the department to reach and exceed equipment availability targets
  • Leading and managing the team of Artisans and contractors in the department
  • In conjunction with the Plant Engineer devise strategies to improve engineering availabilities of the equipment in the department
  • To ensure working procedures are adhered to, updated and complied to according to set standards
  • Maintain housekeeping and high safety standards according to company requirements.

About you:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
  • N2 with relevant trade theory
  • Trade Test Certificate (Boilermaker or Fitter)
  • National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be advantageous
  • 5 years post trade experience in a plant environment.
  • Supervisory experience and skills
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office, SAP Planned Maintenance system (PAM) and Coupa
  • Sinter Plant, MEP and Furnace experience will be an added advantage
  • Must be able to work under pressure and have excellent communication skills
  • Good Knowledge of the HSEC systems

Join us as an Energy Operations Analyst in our Backoffice Trade Support team where you will be focused on monitoring and ensuring that the risk-reward balance within the business is clearly understood by senior management, and that the physical exposure, such as Listed Oil, Power Gas, and Carbon, is accurately valued. This role requires an individual who can offer strong support and maintain a proactive, clear communication style, working closely with the Trade Support Manager, Brokers, and Risk Management teams to ensure effective coordination and alignment.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Broker recap/Commissions – Verifying/ reconcile Broker recaps and EOM Invoices for OTC Swaps/Options and Exchange Traded Futures.
  • Bilateral Confirmations – Issuing and checking counterparty confirmations either electronically via E-confirm or Paper Confirmations.
  • Internal Checks – Check Internal Futures and Swaps with Singapore/US along with intersystem activity.
  • BFOET Partials – Issuing and checking Incoming Confirmations.
  • EOM costs allocations – IM and Costs allocations to the desk.
  • Ensure practices abide by internal guidelines and external regulations.
  • Develop innovative ways to improve procedures.
  • Respond to queries and issues raised by brokers.
  • Liaise with line managers to ensure effective delivery of service and information.
  • Provide basic trouble shooting and identify issues.
  • Escalate incidents immediately when required.
  • Produce daily, monthly and annual reports where required.
  • Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time.

QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma in Finance, commerce, accounting etc. (NQF6)

Experience:

  • Prior relevant work experience of 1 to 2 years’ is preferred.
  • Trade experience is advantageous.
  • Account reconciliation experience advantageous.
  • Awareness of market and industry trends.
  • Coding skills in VBA, Python advantageous.
  • Computer literate MS Office. Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that work effectively within team and different audiences.

  • Maintain and update Mineral Resource and Ore Reserves.
  • Support open-cast mine planning with accurate geological and reserve inputs.
  • Provide strategic resource and reserve inputs to support open-cast life of mine planning.
  • Ensure alignment between geology, mine planning and production team to optimise resource extraction.
  • Monitor resource models against mining performance.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

About you:

  • Honours Geology
  • Registered with SACNASP as registered scientist
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in open-cast mining operations
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, reporting and team leadership and people management skills
  • Must have own transport and a valid driver’s license
  • Medically fit to perform work at a mine

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Manage compliance and maintenance of the site-wide risk management framework, ensuring alignment with corporate Risk management framework, standards and procedures
  • Maintain and update the plant risk profile, risk registers and risk assessments
  • Facilitate risk identification, risk assessments, workshops and periodic risk reviews across departments
  • Drive implementation and monitoring of Fatal Hazard Protocols (FHPs) and critical control management systems
  • Monitor and verify the effectiveness of critical controls and material risk mitigation plans
  • Support and coordinate Management of Change (MOC) processes from a risk perspective
  • Conduct risk-based audits, inspections and compliance assessments
  • Track and report on risk-related actions, audit findings and corrective action closure
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of HSECQMP systems and SafeWork requirements
  • Facilitate and support catastrophic hazard and high-risk scenario assessments
  • Provide input into risk reporting, dashboards and trend analysis for management
  • Ensure effective utilisation of risk management systems (e.g. Isometrix) and data integrity
  • Provide guidance and support to line management on risk management practices and methodologies

About you:

  • National diploma NQF6 or higher in Risk Management or related field
  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in risk management, safety or compliance within mining, smelting or heavy industry
  • Working knowledge of ISO 31000, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Experience in Fatal Hazard Protocols, critical control management and risk assessment processes
  • Familiarity with Glencore Risk Management standards and systems will be advantageous
  • Experience with risk management systems such as Isometrix
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality legislation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills
  • Good facilitation, communication and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Computer literate with strong presentation skills
