 1.       Completed EPWP/Temporary Worker Unemployed Database Application Form.

  1. Clear Certified ID-copy attached – not older than three months.
  2. Copy of bank statement – not older than three months.
  3. Copies of qualifications.
  4. SARS Tax Number.
  5. Contact number.
  6. Must be physically fit to assist with firefighting and rescue operations, road works OR any other physical work that might be required.
  7. Candidates will be subject to medical fitness assessments for firefighting and construction projects in terms of the Construction Regulations and the OHS Act before appointment for temporary road projects.

All of the above must reach the address below on or before Friday, 12 June 2026 at 13:30.

  • Applicants must clearly indicate their choice of post type – EPWP. 
  • Applications received at the office will be recorded on the database of unemployed job seekers of the CKDM.

Leadership

Overview

There are two spheres of governance within Central Karoo District Municipality: Council, which is political in nature and representative of the people who have elected them, and Administration, which are employed by the Municipality as the executors of decisions taken by Council.

The COUNCIL makes decisions in terms of legislation, by-laws and policies, as well as in terms of executive functions such as operations, projects and issues of finance. The Executive Mayor is the executive and political leader of the Municipality.

ADMINISTRATION is responsible for tasks and functions set out in legislation, as well as functions delegated by the Executive Mayor and Council. The Municipal Manager heads up the Administrative function within the municipality.

Municipality Departments

The Central Karoo District Municipality has three (3) Departments responsible for various services within the district. These include Corporate and Strategic Services, Roads Infrastructure Services and Financial Services.

Details of our Departments are as follows:

Corporate Services

The Corporate and Strategic Services Director is responsible to ensure that the Department provides effective administration to Council and supports the legislative and executive functions of the Council as well as management functions including Human Resources, Records Management, Committee Services and ICT.

Socio-Economic Services

Socio-Economic Services focus on community development, local economic growth, skills training, and improving access to essential amenities, helping to create a more sustainable and inclusive environment for all citizens. The directorate is responsible for managing Environmental Health, Disaster Management, Strategic Support Services, including IDP, LED, PMS and Regional Project Management.

Road Infrastructure Services

Our Roads Infrastructure Services Senior Manager ensures that roads are improved and maintained; promotes safe and effective transport for all, and ensures the implementation of a District-wide transport plan.

Financial Services

Our Director Financial Services / Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has an essential function in assisting the Municipal Manager to attend to financial affairs of the Municipality. This includes budget preparation and the development and maintenance of internal control policies and procedures. The CFO plays an integral role in implementing financial reforms at the direction of the Municipal Manager and with the assistance of appropriately skilled finance staff.

Municipal Manager

Introduction

As Municipal Manager, I serve as the head of Administration and am accountable for the overall performance of the Municipality. I am responsible for strategy and the drafting, management and implementation of Council`s business plan, better known as the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

Municipal Manager

The Municipal Manager is by law the head of the administration and also the Municipality’s Accounting Officer. 

The role of a Municipal Manager is primarily threefold in nature, namely:

• Performs procedural duties, re political structure;

• Head of administration;

• Accounting Officer

The Municipal Manager must ensure that the administration of the affairs of the municipality is governed by the democratic values and principles enshrined in the Constitution.
