JOB OVERVIEW

The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and maintaining the overall functionality of IT systems. This role is essential for ensuring smooth operations during the contract period and requires quick problem-solving skills, strong communication, and excellent customer service abilities.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to internal and external end-users via phone, email, or in person.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
  • Respond to IT calls and escalate issues as necessary.

System & Software Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software, printers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of software applications and updates.
  • Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with company policies.

Network Support

  • Assist in maintaining networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi), ensuring connectivity and stability.
  • Troubleshoot network-related issues, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN problems.
  • Ensure proper security measures are in place for network access.

Hardware Management

  • Set up and configure new workstations, laptops, and other IT equipment.
  • Maintain and track an inventory of all hardware assets.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware failures or coordinate repairs with external vendors.

Data & Security Management

  • Ensure data security and integrity by following proper backup and recovery procedures.
  • Implement security measures, including antivirus, firewalls, and system patches.
  • Educate users on best practices for data security and IT usage.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Document technical issues, solutions, and troubleshooting processes for future reference.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of system configurations, network diagrams, and user requests.
  • Provide regular reports to the IT Manager on support issues and resolutions.

User Training & Support

  • Offer training and guidance to end-users on the effective use of hardware, software, and IT systems.
  • Create user guides and provide one-on-one or group training as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees by setting up user accounts and explaining IT policies.


SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Matric Certificate
  • Diploma in IT or equivalent
  • Proven experience as an IT Support Technician or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with Windows and macOS
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365, and other enterprise-level software.
  • Basic server concepts and Active Directory user management
  • Network infrastructure and security fundamentals
  • IT service management principles and helpdesk systems

JOB OVERVIEW

To provide technical support to employees, including diagnosing operating systems, applications, and network difficulties, addressing application and software-related queries. To also administer and implement new technologies, delivering training and support to team members.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Software Development & Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality software features and enhancements in line with business requirements.
  • Number of features/modules successfully developed and deployed per sprint.
  • Adherence to functional and technical specifications (minimal rework required).
  • Compliance with company development standards and guidelines.

Code Quality & Testing

  • Ensure code reliability, maintainability, and quality through best practices.
  • Test coverage percentage achieved for assigned code.
  • Reduction in post-release defects linked to developed code.
  • Timely incorporation of feedback from code reviews.

Bug Fixing & Application Support

  • Maintain stable and reliable applications through effective troubleshooting and support.
  • Average turnaround time to resolve reported bugs/incidents
  • Number of bugs resolved per sprint or reporting period
  • 99% of bugs resolved without escalation.
  • Reduction in repeat or recurring issues
  • Responsiveness to user-reported or QA-reported issues

Collaboration & Agile Participation

  • Contribute effectively within cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Attendance and active participation in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Timely updates on task progress and blockers
  • Quality of collaboration with QA, Product Owners, and Designers (peer feedback)
  • Ability to meet sprint commitments consistently

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Accuracy and clarity of technical documentation (review feedback)
  • Timely documentation of code changes, fixes, and processes
  • Contribution to internal knowledge bases or repositories

System Maintenance & Enhancements

  • Successful implementation of system enhancements or updates.
  • Minimal system downtime caused by changes or deployments.
  • Timely resolution of system-related issues.

Compliance & Security Awareness

  • Adherence to IT policies, security standards, and development protocols.
  • Number of security or compliance breaches attributable to non-adherence.
  • Timely implementation of security fixes and updates.

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Relevant Degree / Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Write, test, and debug basic to intermediate code
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
    • Programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
    • Databases and basic SQL queries.
    • Version control systems (e.g. Git).
    • Software testing principles.
    • Basic networking and operating systems concepts.
