QSR Country Manager – Angola
Our foundation in Angola is in place and the next phase is scaling it. We need a Country Manager who knows this market from the inside, can take full commercial and operational ownership of the existing business, and has the drive to grow the footprint from here. You’ll be backed by our South Africa support team but running the country day-to-day as your own operation. Angola is a complex operating environment and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. Supply chain requires active management. The regulatory landscape demands patience and local knowledge. The person who will succeed here has operated in this market before and knows exactly what they’re walking into.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
- Growth & expansion
- Identifying and securing new store sites alongside the SA Development team — growing the Angolan footprint with pace and discipline
- Driving new store openings from planning to launch, including regulatory approvals and local permits
- Ensuring brand execution is both culturally relevant to the Angolan market and operationally consistent with the wider Hungry Lion standard
- Operations & supply chain
- Full P&L ownership across all in-country stores — margins, unit economics, and profitability
- Managing supplier contracts and keeping the supply chain reliable — including cold chain logistics in a market where that requires constant attention
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and QSR standards across every store without exception
- People & stakeholders
- Leading, developing, and growing the existing local team — building the next layer of leadership, not just managing the current one
- Representing Hungry Lion with local authorities, landlords, and regulatory bodies
- Working closely with the South Africa hub across finance, marketing, and operations
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- 8–10 years of F&B or QSR management experience, with a track record of scaling operations in Angola or comparable markets
- Deep knowledge of the Angolan market – local legislation, commercial networks, and cultural context. Angolan citizenship is strongly preferred
- Fluent in Portuguese and highly proficient in English for working with the SA team
- Proven P&L ownership at a multi-site level
- Comfortable making decisions independently and operating without close day-to-day oversight
WHAT YOU GET
- Full commercial ownership of an established and growing market with the backing of a fast-expanding African QSR brand behind you
- The autonomy to make the operation better, not just maintain it
- A role that scales directly with the Angolan footprint

Fire and Ventilation Engineer/Designer
Hungry Lion is opening stores across Africa at pace. Every one of those stores needs fire detection, suppression, and ventilation systems that are designed correctly, installed properly, and certified without shortcuts. That’s this role. You’ll own the full technical lifecycle, from design through to statutory sign-off, across a growing network that spans multiple countries.
This is not a desk-only role. You’ll be on site, in stores, and in front of local authorities across multiple countries. The person who thrives here is technically excellent and practically minded; someone who can design it, sign it off, and stand behind it.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
- Designing fire detection, suppression, and kitchen ventilation systems for new store builds and refurbishments, end-to-end.
- Issuing Form 2 and Form 4 documentation to local authorities as the appointed Competent Person.
- Managing, verifying, and issuing Certificates of Conformity (CoCs) for gas (LPG), fire, and mechanical ventilation installations across the network.
- Ensuring all designs and installations meet SANS standards and local municipal fire regulations.
- Defining LPG and kitchen extraction infrastructure requirements to reduce maintenance costs and operational downtime.
- Conducting site visits to assess fire safety risks and troubleshoot HVAC and ventilation faults.
- Managing fire safety capital projects from tender through to final commissioning on budget and on time.
- Working directly with architects, draughtspersons, and local authorities to keep projects moving.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- BEng, BSc (Eng), or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Active ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer or Technologist (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng); this is non-negotiable, as statutory sign-off requires it.
- 5+ years of experience in fire protection design and industrial ventilation.
- Proficiency in CAD or Revit for infrastructure layouts.
- Expert working knowledge of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act.
- Willingness to travel to stores across Africa as required.
WHAT YOU GET
- Technical ownership across an entire and expanding store network.
- Exposure to multi-country infrastructure projects across Africa.
- The chance to build systems and standards from the ground up as the network grows.
WHO WE ARE
Hungry Lion opened its first store in Stellenbosch in 1997. One store, one idea: great food, served with energy and genuine warmth. Today that idea runs across more than 500 stores in multiple African countries and we’re still growing. Innovation is part of how we compete — from the way we use AI and technology to run smarter operations, to the way we back our people to think differently and solve real problems. Whether you’re on the floor, in the kitchen, or behind the scenes at HQ, every person here shapes what this brand becomes. The best of Hungry Lion is still ahead and we’re looking for people who want to be part of building it.

Accountant – CA(SA)
This is not a steady-state close-the-books role. You’ll cover tax compliance across multiple African jurisdictions, multi-entity reporting, store viability analysis, and audit coordination simultaneously – all in the same role, encompassing tax, reporting, commercial analysis, and audit. You’ll context-switch, prioritise hard, and meet deadlines that don’t move.
MWHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
- Multi-country tax – income tax, provisional tax, withholding tax, and VAT submissions across multiple jurisdictions, reconciled to Revenue Authority statements
- Monthly reporting – cash flow statements, management pack, variance analysis against budget, and GL reconciliations across payroll, fixed assets, and bank accounts
- Commercial analysis – store viability studies and back-testing, cost of sales and GP reporting per store, stock valuation, and cost improvement recommendations

- Reconciliations for Payroll – comparing payroll data to general ledger entries and posting corrections where needed (i.e. Balance Sheet and Income Statement reconciliations).
- Fixed asset register – creating assets, doing monthly recon between fixed asset register and GL entries, and doing depreciation runs on the system.
- Bank reconciliations – Salaries and suppliers’ bank accounts, identify where reconciling items exist, inquire about differences and adjust for differences.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOUQualifications & Experience:

Graphic Designer – Stellenbosch
This is a high-volume, fast-paced creative environment. You’ll be switching between a social post, a store banner, and a video format in the same week. The designers who thrive here are the ones who bring the same standard to all three.
We don’t want a technician who executes. We want a creative who thinks, then executes brilliantly. If your portfolio shows both, we want to see it.
What the job actually looks like
- Designing across the full brand mix – POS, social, OOH, digital, print, events, and everything in between.
- Originating concepts, not just executing briefs – we want ideas, not just outputs.
- Creating and editing video content and motion formats as part of your regular output.
- Preparing print-ready artwork to exact printer specifications.
- Running multiple projects at the same time without letting quality slip on any of them.
- Working closely with the broader Marketing team and business stakeholders to bring briefs to life on time.
- Understanding that design, copy, and photography are parts of the same customer experience and designing like it.
What we need from you
- A degree in Graphic Design or Multimedia Design
- 4 – 5 years of experience as a Graphic Designer or Conceptual DTP Artist (agency, retail, or QSR background preferred)
- A portfolio that shows conceptual range, not just technical execution.
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills across InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.
- Solid understanding of layout, colour, typography, scale, and composition.
- Ability to work within a brand CI while still finding room to be creative.
- Someone who handles feedback well, asks good questions, and manages their own time without being chased.
Software
- Required: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects
- Advantageous: Premiere Pro, 3D software, Videography, Photography
What you get
- A brand with genuine creative ambition and the volume to keep you sharp.
- A Marketing team that treats design as central to how the brand competes.
- Broad creative scope.
- A seat at the table when campaigns are being built, not just when the artwork needs doing.

Business Excellence Manager
The Business Excellence Manager will be responsible for leading and executing business optimisation, process improvement, and management system implementation initiatives across a diverse range of business areas within Hungry Lion. Grounded in a strong analytical and technical foundation, this role bridges the gap between operational engineering and financial performance. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced data analytics and financial modelling to identify bottlenecks, reduce unit costs, and drive measurable throughput increases for clients. This is a mid-level role suited for an analytical problem-solver who has transitioned from a technical engineering environment into management consulting.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
- Leading process improvement initiatives across business areas, identifying operational bottlenecks, reducing unit costs, and building the business case for every intervention with NPV, IRR, and payback period analysis
- Designing and implementing management systems at the operational level that drive sustainable behaviour change, not just short-term compliance
- Conducting post-project audits to measure whether the numbers delivered matched what the business case promised, and being honest when they didn’t
- Managing the interfaces between technical teams, operational groups, and business units so that improvement projects don’t die in the handoff
- Running structural risk assessments on capital spend and operational assets to protect project timelines and returns
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- BEng or BSc Eng in any core discipline, i.e. Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering
- MBA from a reputable institution, preferably with a finance or business optimisation focus
- 3-5 years of professional experience that combines industry exposure with a track record in management consulting
- A demonstrable history of projects that delivered quantifiable results; specific cost reductions, throughput increases, or efficiency gains you can put a number on
- Advanced data analytics capability – you work with complex, unstructured data and turn it into clear, actionable insights
- Strong financial literacy – NPV, IRR, variable and fixed cost structures, and investment evaluation are tools you use regularly, not concepts you recall from a textbook
- The ability to communicate complex technical and financial findings clearly to both floor-level operators and corporate executives
WHAT YOU GET
- Broad exposure across a multi-country business; this role touches operations, finance, supply chain, and commercial strategy
- Real accountability for outcomes; you build the business case, execute the intervention, and own the post-project audit
- A fast-growing business with genuine inefficiencies still to find and fix
- Direct visibility with senior leadership and the ability to influence how the business allocates capital

Systems & Automation Engineer – QSR
Hungry Lion runs a fast-moving, multi-market supply chain. Right now, too much of it depends on manual intervention – people catching exceptions, fixing processes by hand, filling gaps that a well-built system should handle automatically. This role exists to change that. You’ll design, build, and continuously improve the replenishment systems that keep stock flowing reliably across our store network.
This is a build-and-own role. You’re not maintaining someone else’s system; you’re shaping how replenishment works across a growing multi-country business. If you’re energised by turning manual processes into something that runs itself, this is the right environment.
WHAT THE JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
- Analysing replenishment processes and system behaviour to find where things break down and why.
- Designing and implementing system logic, validations, and automation that reduce manual work and operational risk.
- Supporting the development and improvement of our bespoke demand planning and replenishment tools, built on platforms like AppSheet and AppScript.
- Standardising replenishment rules and processes so they work consistently across multiple markets.
- Monitoring what you’ve built, measuring whether it works, and improving it when it doesn’t.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation or analytics tools.
- The ability to translate what an operations team needs into a system solution they can actually use.
- Someone who takes ownership, works independently, and doesn’t wait to be told what to fix.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Required
- JavaScript
- SQL
- Excel
- Python
Advantage
- KNIME
- AppSheet/AppScript
WHAT YOU GET
- Real ownership of systems that affect how stock moves across an entire store network.
- The chance to build from the ground up, not maintain someone else’s legacy code.
- A Replenishment (demand planning) team that understands the operational problem and needs you to solve it technically.
- Scope to grow as the business expands into new markets and the systems needed to scale with it.
