Main objectives of the position

Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Services & Administration Manager, theEmployee & Industrial Relations Superintendent is responsible for promoting positive employee and industrial relations by fostering a productive, respectful, and legally compliant work environment. The incumbent will oversee employee relations, labor relations, disciplinary management, and regulatory compliance while ensuring effective engagement with unions, government authorities, and key stakeholders. The role supports safe, sustainable, and efficient mining operations through proactive conflict resolution, sound employee relations practices, and compliance with labor legislation and company standards.

Minimum qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Industrial Psychology, Law, Business Management/Administration, or a related discipline.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience within the mining, industrial, or heavy industry sector will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, labor relations, collective bargaining, and disciplinary management.
  • Experience working in operational, multicultural, and unionized environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on employee and industrial relations matters, providing professional advice and guidance.
  • Foster constructive relationships with employee representatives and labor unions to maintain a harmonious industrial relations environment.
  • Coordinate union elections, organize statutory and consultative meetings, and monitor the implementation of agreed action plans.
  • Lead and support Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations, reviews, and implementation.
  • Resolve employee grievances, conflicts, and disputes through effective mediation and negotiation while ensuring compliance with established procedures and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with the Democratic Republic of Congo labor legislation, Glencore standards, and company policies relating to employee relations and disciplinary management.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits conducted by government institutions and certification bodies, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Manage disciplinary processes for employees up to Superintendent level, ensuring consistency, fairness, and legal compliance.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to line managers on employee relations, disciplinary matters, and labor law compliance.
  • Monitor employee relations trends, disciplinary cases, grievances, and protected concerns, providing regular reports and recommendations to management.
  • Develop and maintain employee relations reporting systems, dashboards, and key performance indicators to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development team to deliver employee relations and labor law awareness programs.
  • Promote employee wellbeing, respectful workplace behaviors, and positive employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support the integration of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability (HSE&S) principles into employee relations practices and workplace behaviors.

HR Services Team Lead

Global HR Operations & Payroll Services, the HR Hub

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated HR Services Team Lead to lead within the Global HR Services team in Johannesburg, South Africa, through the HR Hub which supports HR administration for multiple Glencore offices worldwide. This role combines end-to-end HR operational delivery with regional ownership, process design, and cross-functional leadership. The HR Services Partner – Team Lead drives consistency, governance, and continuous improvement across the employee lifecycle for assigned regions, while acting as the subject-matter expert and knowledge anchor for the HR Hub team. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to move beyond transactional execution into designing processes, resolving complex escalations, and mentoring colleagues, all while maintaining high integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.

Primary Task & Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to prepare employment contracts, amendments, termination agreements, and related documentation in line with global and local compliance requirements across multiple locations; ensure accuracy and consistency of terms and collaborate with HR Leads to update templates as necessary.
  • Hold full ownership of HR operations for assigned regions, with coverage of additional regions and global topics as required, operating independently and taking accountability for outcomes.
  • Lead end-to-end onboarding for new countries as the business expands into new markets and coordinate day-to-day onboarding and offboarding as point of contact for new hires and departing/transferring employees.
  • Establish benefits, payroll inputs, policies, and Workday configuration for new markets, including relevant market research.
  • Develop and maintain HR Services SOPs, lifecycle documentation, and country handbooks and Core pages across assigned markets.
  • Manage employee digital personnel e-files and ensure Workday records remain accurate through regular reporting and controlling.
  • Validate, retest, and ensure correct configuration of Workday and other core HR systems; own set-up, testing, and training (hub and local teams) of relevant HR case-management/service tools, including implementation.
  • Design and maintain the payroll summary process bridging HR and Payroll execution, in addition to ensuring data completeness ahead of cut-off.
  • Own resolution of major escalations, audits, and legacy liabilities as they arise across the region.
  • Manage transfers globally across different entities, including complex cross-entity and cross-border cases.
  • Liaise with Regional and Global Leads to ensure compliance with local labour laws and global standards, and support implementation of global processes, policies, and initiatives.
  • Act as the knowledge anchor for assigned regions, coaching and upskilling hub colleagues, and contributing to training materials and knowledge-sharing for the HR Hub team.
  • Serve as the HR point of contact for employees, managers, Recruiters, and HR Business Partners on employee lifecycle, benefits, absences, Workday, and related topics; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Propose and implement improvements to HR processes and the HR information system (Workday), driving efficiency and effectiveness.

Role Purpose

The Social Performance, Human Rights & Security Manager plays a critical role in enabling business success across Glencore’s Copper operations through the effective management of social, human rights, security, and reputational risks and opportunities.

The role provides strategic leadership, technical expertise, governance oversight, and operational support to regional and asset teams, ensuring that social performance, human rights, and security considerations are effectively integrated into business planning, project development, and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Counsel, Partnership & Support

  • Provide strategic guidance and technical support to Copper operations across social performance, human rights, and security disciplines.
  • Partner with regional and asset leadership teams to identify, manage, and mitigate social and reputational risks.

  • Participate in project stage-gate reviews and provide expert input on social performance, human rights, security, and stakeholder considerations.

Governance, Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead monitoring and due diligence activities relating to the implementation of Glencore’s Social Performance and Human Rights policies, standards, and governance requirements across the Copper portfolio.
  • Assess compliance, identify improvement opportunities, and support corrective action plans.
  • Provide assurance and performance reporting to Copper and Group leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen social performance, human rights, and security outcomes across operations and projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, International Development, Law, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Political Science, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability, Human Rights, Community Development, Public Policy, Security Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • Significant experience in social performance, human rights, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, security, or related disciplines within the mining, natural resources, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders on complex social, stakeholder, security, and reputational issues.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and cultures, ideally within global or regional operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of international human rights frameworks and industry standards related to responsible mining and security management.

Main objectives of the position

Under the direct supervision of the Inventory Management Manager, the Superintendent Inventory Management (Demand Planning) is responsible for managing and coordinating demand planning and inventory forecasting activities to ensure accurate material availability, aligned with operational, maintenance and shutdown needs.
