ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose:

To manage and execute payroll functions using Sage 300, ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries and benefits for approximately 1,500 employees. The Payroll Bookkeeper will also support HC and finance with tax submissions, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance with South African labour and tax laws. 

Reports to: Head of Human Capital

Responsibilities:

  • Full end-to-end payroll processing for multiple payrolls in SAGE 300 People
  • Process payroll for high volumes of employees
  • Capture hours from systems, calculate wages, overtime, bonuses & deductions
  • Maintain and update employee master data
  • Ensure seamless integration with HC & timekeeping systems (manual & biometric)
  • Manage bulk imports/exports of time, earnings, and deductions
  • Reconcile payrolls before finalisation
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation
  • Submit all statutory returns: EMP201, EMP501, UIF declarations
  • Compile accurate payroll reports for:
  • Internal management
  • Client billing & invoice reconciliation
  • Payroll trend analysis

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, specifically with Sage 300.
  • Advanced SAGE 300 People training is highly advantageous
  • Expert-level experience in SAGE 300 People (Payroll Module) 
  • Experience in processing payrolls (using SAGE 300 People) is advantageous
  • Advanced experience with SAGE 300 People (HR Module) is advantageous
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal, reading & writing)
  • Able to meet strict deadlines & work independently

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.

Purpose of Role:

The Recruitment Officer is responsible for an efficient and effective recruitment and selection process to ensure that the Schools’ network attracts and recruits high performing and strong cultural fit candidates for vacancies.

Responsibilities:

  • Attraction:
    • Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, universities and providing network information and opportunities.
    • The posting and updating of job vacancies on the careers page and various job board portals.
    • Networking with various stakeholders to ensure an ongoing pipeline of potential referral candidates.
  • Shortlist and screening:
    • Determines applicant requirements by carefully studying the current job description
    • Thorough screening and shortlisting of CVs according to the requirements of the job description whilst ensuring ongoing feedback to candidates
    • Telephonic screening of applicants to ensure they meet the job requirements and SPARK cultural fit
    • Submission and coordination/marking of benchmark Subject Knowledge Tests
  • Coordination of review and assessment of Video upload/In-Person interviews:
    • Coordination of review and assessment of lesson demonstrations and Video/In-Person interviews with Line Managers and relevant panel members.
  • Administration:
  • Ongoing communication of feedback to candidates including confirmation of unsuccessful applications.
  • Make recommendations to applicants and relevant Line Managers with regards to location, job role, start date and salary.
  • Keep record of all recruitment data as per company recruitment policy and procedures.
  • Conducting fingerprints and criminal clearances with shortlisted candidates
  • Follow procedure of informing Line Manager and Human Capital Department of new employee start date.

Purpose:

The Digital Marketing and Web Development Specialist is responsible for driving SPARK Schools’ digital marketing strategy and maintaining all digital assets to enhance brand awareness and drive qualified lead generation. This role focuses on building, managing, and optimising performance-based (PPC) digital marketing campaigns while ensuring the continuous improvement of the organisation’s web presence.

The Digital Marketing and Web Development Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that our digital channels are high-performing, on-brand, and contribute directly to the SPARK Schools’ mission of delivering accessible, world-class education.

Reports to: Head of Marketing

Responsibilities:

Operational Execution & Efficiency

  • Design and implement a short, medium and long-term digital marketing roadmap aligned to brand strategy and business goals.
  • Manage and optimize the organisation’s digital assets, including company websites and virtual tour platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs on web platforms in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and evaluate the work of digital marketing agencies, ensuring quality control and adherence to SPARK’s standards.
  • Identify, track, and resolve all digital issues across SPARK Schools’ digital assets—including websites, landing pages, digital campaigns, and tracking tools—to ensure optimal performance and a seamless user experience.

Campaign Development & Management

  • Lead the development, implementation, and reporting of all PPC and SEO campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Continuously optimise campaigns for cost-efficiency and conversion, including through A/B testing and data analysis.
  • Maintain an active list of SEO keywords and ensure implementation across relevant assets.
  • Build and manage Power BI dashboards to track performance across all digital marketing channels.

Lead Generation & Enrolment Support

  • Generate and optimize digital marketing campaigns to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual lead targets.
  • Collaborate with the enrolment and brand teams to improve lead quality and conversion.
  • Analyse digital lead performance and deliver actionable insights to improve enrolment funnel performance.

Web Development & Maintenance

  • Maintain and update all SPARK Schools web assets to reflect current content, campaigns, and branding.
  • Ensure high performance, mobile responsiveness, and SEO best practices are consistently applied.
  • Manage the upload and maintenance of virtual reality tours of schools and liaise with suppliers to ensure updates are produced as needed.

Data Analysis & Performance Reporting

  • Analyse and report on website and campaign performance on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the data.
  • Recommend new digital tools, technologies, and best practices that could improve digital performance.

Market Insights & Digital Innovation

  • Conduct regular competitor analysis and track emerging digital marketing trends.
  • Ensure SPARK Schools remains a digital leader in the education sector.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Digital marketing certifications (e.g., Google Ads, Meta/Facebook, SEO) are advantageous.

Experience:

Purpose of the role:

The Operations Manager – Sales & Credit Control is responsible for optimizing the full enrollment pipeline and school fee collections process. This role ensures operational efficiency, enhances the customer experience, and supports financial sustainability. Leading cross-functional teams, the incumbent will drive scholar enrolment growth and ensure timely and effective collections, contributing directly to cash flow improvement and the broader strategic objectives of SPARK Schools.

Reports to: Head of Sales & Credit Control

Responsibilities:

Enrolment Sales Operations:

  • Lead the enrolment team to deliver a seamless journey from enquiry to onboarding.
  • Monitor conversion rates and implement strategies to meet enrolment targets.
  • Ensure all parent interactions reflect SPARK’s brand values and service standards.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, scripts, and training resources.
  • Ensure effective use of CRM systems and data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, lead management, and cycle alignment.

Fee Collections & Revenue Management:

  • Oversee fee collections including invoicing, payment tracking, and overdue follow-ups.
  • Monitor aged debt, reduce bad debt, and escalate high-risk accounts.
  • Implement payment plan structures and ensure accurate account reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial and data protection regulations.

Job Title: High School Child Protection Officer

Purpose of Role:

The High School Child Protection Officer (HS CPO) is responsible for managing all aspects of child protection and safeguarding programs across SPARK High Schools. This includes developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving child protection initiatives to ensure the safety and well-being of scholars.

The HS CPO will also provide support and guidance to social workers placed in schools, ensuring alignment with SPARK’s safeguarding policies and national legislation. Additionally, the HS CPO will play a key role in enhancing the Character Quotient (CQ) framework, enhancing the behaviour management process, and strengthening restorative practices in high schools.

The high School Child Protection Officer (HS CPO) plays a critical role in developing and implementing policies, frameworks, and training initiatives to ensure scholar safety, behaviour management, and character development across SPARK High Schools.

Reports To: Head of Product: High Schools

Responsibilities generally include:

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

  • SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications.

Experience

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose:

The role of the Compliance Officer is to manage the organisation’s compliance, health and safety portfolio across the organisation. This includes the implementation and adherence of relevant policies and procedures; risk mitigation; continuous improvement, and on-going statutory compliance. The role is also responsible for collaborating closely with the School Leadership and Operations Team(s), while championing the SPARK culture and brand in all stakeholder interactions.

Reports to: Property Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are implemented and adhered to by relevant stakeholders across all the school sites and support office to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Periodically review, update and communicate health & safety strategy, policies, regulations and SOPs to ensure relevance, on-going compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with new or revised legislation pertaining to health, safety and
  • welfare.
  • Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health by providing expert advice on health and safety matters.
  • Oversee that all Health & Safety files are up to date and in compliance with legislation.
  • Undertake comprehensive quarterly health and safety internal audits. Document, file and share internal audit reports with the School Leadership and Property Operations Manager.
  • Assess each site’s audit rating and assist to action any non-compliance items / recommendations until completion and improvement. This may include delegating responsibility to relevant stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.
  • Create useful content for Safety Toolbox Talks, and ensure that they are conducted across all sites on a quarterly basis.
  • Coordinate with site leadership to ensure emergency preparedness and that fire drills are conducted.
  • Manage the required health and safety training with the appointed external provider.
  • Manage and attend to logged tickets within agreed SLA timeframe.
  • Ensure that all compliance certificates (incl. each site’s Health Certificate) are in place and valid. This includes keeping the relevant trackers up-to-date and documenting reasons for non-compliance or validity.
  • Manage license and registration renewals – ensure that the relevant tracker is up-to-date and renewals have been proactively planned.
  • Understand, commit to and deliver on the assigned applicable area of responsibility and duties as appointed by the 16(2) in terms of the OHS Act Section
  • Monitor campus emergencies, including equipment breakdowns, malfunctions and alarm calls in conjunction with security companies.
  • Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving facilities and/or equipment. This may include attending to emergencies outside of working hours (e.g. break-ins).
  • Conduct inspections together with the relevant department (Department of Labour & Employment; Department of Health) inspector and implement recommended changes.
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their respective responsibilities regarding security, health and safety in order to maintain optimised awareness and mitigation.
  • Document, investigate and report on all incidents, accidents, complaints, criminal activities, cases of ill-health and/or injuries on the sites/properties.
  • Post investigation, make recommendations for improvement and oversee the implementation of such improvements to ensure security, health and safety is maintained.
  • Report any injuries and/or accidents to the Department of Labour (DoEL) within seven (7) days and manage injury on duty claims with the Compensation Fund.
  • Report any incidents of criminal nature to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
  • Develop, implement and communicate a crisis management plan for all sites/offices across the organisation. This includes ensuring that all employees understand the process clearly.
  • Work closely with the School Leadership Teams/Site Section 8.2 Appointees to ensure that the required health and safety checklists are complete, procedures are followed and protocols are administered to the required standard.
  • Obtain a Letter of Good Standing with PSIRA and COIDA on an annual basis.
  • Establish, implement and/or communicate a structured programme of health and safety training throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure effective management of supplier (service provider) relationships in line with business objectives and signed supplier agreements.
  • Visit each site on a monthly basis.

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • Degree in a related field.
  • Occupational Health & Safety training.
  • 3 – 5 Years of experience in a related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory compliance (OHS)
  • Detailed knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Experience working in a schooling environment advantageous

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose:

The Contracts & Projects Manager will be responsible for managing contractual relationships with IT vendors and coordinating the implementation of IT services and solutions across internal departments. This dual-role bridges the gap between contractual oversight and operational delivery, ensuring projects are executed on time, within scope, and in line with contractual terms.

Reports to: Interim CIO

Responsibilities:

Contract Management:

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Monitor vendor compliance with contractual terms, SLAs, and regulatory requirements (e.g. POPIA, B-BBEE).
  • Maintain a central repository of vendor contracts and related documentation.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews with vendors and address non-compliance or disputes.

Project Management:

  • Plan and coordinate IT implementation projects involving third-party vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Track progress, manage risks, and resolve issues to ensure successful delivery.
  • Ensure alignment between vendor deliverables and internal business objectives.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Liaise between IT vendors and business units to ensure effective communication and change management.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing, training, and onboarding for new systems.
  • Prepare and present project reports and updates to senior leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications and Criteria:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Law, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management, vendor management, or contracts administration.
  • Strong knowledge of South African contract law, procurement regulations, and POPIA compliance.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) is essential.
  • Experience with B-BBEE compliance and vendor assessments.

Preferred Experience:

  • Exposure to IT service delivery, ERP, cloud services, or software deployment projects.
  • Familiarity with tools like MS Project, JIRA, or equivalent project tracking systems.
