The key purpose of this role is to maintain, repair and optimize plant and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product quality at minimum cost without sacrificing standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe, healthy, risk-free working environment at all times by abiding to all rules and regulations of the safety policies
  • Perform maintenance and operation on various machines while ensuring that the machine is safe before maintenance tasks are carried out
  • Maintain and repair plant & associated devices at minimum cost while maintaining highest quality standards
  • Optimize and improve plant, process equipment & systems in case of Electricians/ Instruments need to ensure that all tasks performed meets the requirements of South African Bureau of Standards Act 1945
  • Ensure that maintenance tasks are completed to the standard work instructions set out by AB InBev
  • Standby duty required as per roster set out with minimum disruptions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum N3 Technical qualification or higher
  • Trade test qualification in Mechanical / Electrical/ Instrumentation
  • Experience in Packaging would be advantageous
  • Summative assessment in current role would be advantageous
  • 2 year’s post trade test experience would be advantageous
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Basic operations of electronic communication devices

  • Successful Completed sab trainee program (Brewing, Packaging, Logistics, Maintenance or E&F).
  • South African Department of Labour issued Government Certificate of Competence or equivalent legal requirement for appointment to the position of responsible person for Safety and environment.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods environment
  • Experience in both safety and environment management.
  • 3-5 years experience in either Safety/environment Facilitator or Controller role.

Brewing Process Operator

Key roles and responsibilities:

Operational Support:

  • Provide specialist support to the shift based teams during operations. This will include standby and day shift support.
  • Where requested, assist as a functional expert in problem solving. This must be undertaken in support of the process artisan.
  • Where requested, provide guidance and advice to the shift based teams on machine operation, machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes.
  • Where requested, provide coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift based teams Take part, as functional expert, in regional and central office plant optimisation trials.

Planned Maintenance:

  • Take part in maintenance planning meeting, contributing suggestions and clarifying work required.
  • Carry out work during the planned maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the planner.
  • Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks in during planned maintenance windows.
  • Partake in maintenance post-mortems to feedback problems, opportunities and learnings from maintenance activities.

Routine Maintenance:

  • Partake in cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the Maintenance.
  • Planner must be resolved using the appropriate problem solving techniques.
  • Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule Where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance, these required, additional resources may be called in to assist.
  • Where problems have been uncovered, and it is required to include the work in the planned maintenance schedule, this must be communicated to the Maintenance Planner.
  • Carry out condition monitoring activities where these have been allocated to the Technician in accordance with the CM schedule.

Problem Solving:

  • Where problems have occurred during routine activities, apply the correct problem-solving approach to resolve.
  • Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request Take part, as functional expert, in FFA’s on request.

House Keeping and Safety:

  • Operate in a safe manner at all times and identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected.
  • Carry out work according to the work instructions and adhere to appropriate SAB policies and procedures. Carry out housekeeping tasks and apply 5S principles during the execution of duties.
  • On request, partake in carrying out running repairs on plant and equipment, or support the Shift Artisans in carrying out repairs.
  • When carrying out repairs, assess the problem and determine a course of action.
  • Where required, specialist assistance may be called in. This may include internal resources such as Instrument.
  • Technicians, or external resources such as Contractors or Suppliers.
  • Where repairs indicate that major work is required, such as re-wiring a motor, this must be transferred to the engineering workshop for attention.
  • Verify that where running repairs have been carried out, this has addressed the problem.
  • Complete the administration tasks relating to any running repairs that the Technician has carried out.
  • This includes all SAP/SIGGA or other inputs where running repairs cannot be carried out, communicate this to the Maintenance Planner to ensure the work is planned into the next planned window. Compliant to Best Practices and VPO Standards

Profile:

  • Grade 12
  • N6 Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Diploma or higher qualification
  • Mechanical or Millwright (Trade test) Knowledge or experience of working in a production environment particularly in FMCG (advantageous)

The key purpose of this role is to provide functional leadership for plant Energy & Fluids within the designated Africa zone business unit. Continuity and Risk

  • Develop and standardize system Utilities availability BCP plans for countries and plants.
  • Develops and implements approaches to mitigate obsolescence.
  • Ensure sharing of best practices for Utilities management.
  • Monitors Utilities quality parameters (IQMS).
  • Implements Ammonia and Steam Process Safety Management programs.

Skills Development and Transfer

  • Assist in the development plans for all Energy & Fluids positions.
  • Provide coaching for E&F across the breweries.
  • Supports the development and roll out of E&F Technical Packages.
  • Develop and implement Energy and Fluids best practices.

Projects (Investments)

  • Assist in defining cost effective capital investment to support the strategic plan.
  • Utilities SME for Capital projects, ensuring Energy & Fluids best practices are incorporated into design specifications.
  • Evaluates plant capacity and expansion plans to ensure efficient Utility capacity.
  • Support the operational readiness plan.

Partnering with Suppliers

  • Identify key suppliers and support Procurement to formulate technical specifications.

  • Very strong communication skills from executive level through to shop floor.
  • Strong systemic and strategic thinking balanced with a practical realism.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years FMCG or beverages experience in industrial electrical and mechanical engineering and maintenance.
  • Is an experienced practitioner of the manufacturing way and VPO.
  • Familiar with OSHA and plant legislative laws.

Job Purpose

The Key Purpose of this role is to address the acquisition of technical skills and experience for graduates as well as familiarize them with the company culture and principles in an 18-month structured programme. The rigor of the programme should ensure that an individual that has completed the programme can be allocated an area of responsibility immediately.

Key Outputs and Responsibilities:

  • The Traineeship is primarily a hands-on, self-study program where the Trainee is expected to gain a full understanding of the theory, principles and operation of equipment across the various department
  • Participation in projects is aligned to the program requirements and brewery priorities
  • Apply VPO principles
  • Diagnosis of systemic and situational problems and troubleshooting
  • Participation in team structures including acting roles in identified leadership positions within the department
  • Communication of learnings and solutions across various levels of the business

Minimum Requirements

  • BSC, BEng or Btech or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Energy or Mechatronics
  • BSC Chemical Engineering
  • BSC/BTech Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry or Biology
