Senior Dealmaker Level 1 Chemicals, Medical and Industrial Mineral Products

Synopsis

To evaluate and present applications for funding and structure deals that contribute towards SBU objectives and industry development goals. This would include performing the complex financial and/or technical and/or marketing due diligence functions, as well as leading a due diligence team and ensuring risk identification and mitigation.

Job Description

Financial / Shareholder Returns

  • Evaluate and effectively structure transactions with detailed application of IDC financing instruments.
  • Ensure financial soundness of all credit submissions.

Internal / Operational Processes

  • Evaluate applications for finance (financial, technical and marketing disciplines)
  • Deal structuring – Designing and negotiating the financial and legal relationship between the client and IDC for the specific deal.
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Leading of due diligence teams on high value / complex transactions • Deal optimization – ensuring that the deal is aligned with the strategic objectives of the unit and will contribute to meeting industry development goals
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies or action plans to drive the SBU’s strategic objectives.
  • Account management function up to first draw
  • Prepare well written and motivated reports for presentation to the relevant Credit and other committees as required.
  • Conduct peer reviews on all due diligence disciplines.
  • Training, mentoring and coaching of Business Analysts and Dealmakers
  • Provide advice to Business Analysts and Dealmakers in the handling of enquiries and applications

  • To effectively interact with different SBUs and departments in order to fulfil the process requirements related to any specific deal / transaction.

Qualification and Experience

Formal qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: relevant commercial (Chartered Accountant) or technical Honours degree (Engineering)

Knowledge & Experience

  • 8-10 years related experience of which 8 years should be in deal assessment as well as closing of transactions ( i.e. management of approved deals up to first drawdown, including ensuring timely conclusion of legal agreements).
  • Declared competent in three due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical or Financial)
  • Grounded in all three disciplines
  • Transaction leadership (complex deals)
  • Knowledge in assessing all associated issues in a transaction (Legal, risks, etc.)
  • Experience in peer review
  • Experience in interpretation and analysis of financial statements

Property Valuer

Synopsis

To undertake independent professional valuations of immovable property for IDC operational SBU’s and Departments

Job Description

Key performance areas include:

  • To independently review and determine appropriate fixed asset (land and building) values cognisant of all value forming factors for the purpose of verifying purchase prices, authenticating shareholder contributions, establishing security cover, setting reserve prices at disposal, insurance, etc.
  • To provide expert advice within field of expertise regarding values, value forming factors, market trends, collateralization, etc.
  • To maintain relevant records and relations in support of expertise, expert knowledge.
  • To maintain pertinent professional and expert standing, both within and beyond IDC
  • Review external and internal valuation reports.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have Diploma or Degree in Land Management/ Economics, Real Estate Valuation & Management, Regional & Town Planning, or equivalent.
  • Appropriate registration with South African Council for Property Valuers Profession, or equivalent.

Selection Criteria:

  • 5-8 years appropriate experience in land and building valuation.
  • Analysis and interpretation of the factors and market forces and information effecting asset values.
  • Experience in valuation of movable assets (plant, equipment and machinery) would be an added advantage.

Policy Specialist: JET IP Office

Synopsis

In November 2023 Cabinet approved the Just Energy Transition Implementation Plan (JET-IP) which included chapters dedicated to green hydrogen (GH2) and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). The IDC is tasked with setting up the GH2 and NEV JET-IP Programme Management Offices, which include a policy specialist (hereafter referred to as the “specialist”). The specialist will support the JET-IP Programmes in the IDC.

The specialist will coordinate the Programme Management Offices’ policy-related activities to define, develop and ensure relevant policies are in place to support the development of the GH2 and NEV industries.

Job Description

Financial Shareholder Returns

  • Compile budgets as required and track expenditure.

Internal /Operational Processes

  • Research and analyse existing policies and legislation to identify areas for improvement orrevision.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including government and the private sector, to gatherinput and build consensus around policy initiatives.
  • Evaluate the potential impacts of proposed policies, including economic, social, andenvironmental effects, using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Develop a policy and regulatory action plan for changes to policy and regulations to alignto the GH2 and NEV implementation plans.
  • Monitor the progress of the policy and regulatory action plan with both internal andexternal stakeholders.
  • Systematically and proactively apprise key counterparts on important policies, strategiesand relevant operations and identify new areas for collaboration and dialogue betweenIDC and counterparts.
  • Monitor local and international GH2, NEV and related regulations and policies and any changes to such and advise the Programme Director on implications to the JET-IP GH2 and NEV Portfolios.
  • Engage in policy dialogue and awareness raising, working closely with Marketing and Communications counterparts and the JET PMU in the Presidency to ensure that policy development work effectively reaches key stakeholders from government, private sector associations, industry bodies, academia and media.
  • Represent the IDC and the JET-IP GH2 and NEV interest in policy discussions, advocacy and public forums.
  • Develop and maintain policy and regulatory databases, records, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.
  • Work closely with the Head of R&I to develop appropriate policy and regulatory recommendations.

Qualification and Experience

ACCOUNT MANAGER – KIPP (X2)

Synopsis

To assist with management of processes that contribute towards specific programme objectives which include pipeline building, preparing, sourcing, assessing and reviewing of applications; preparing reports and submissions that contribute towards specific fund objectives. To pro-actively provide value-adding and strategic advice, support and guidance to the programme and relevant stakeholders.

  • Managing of application and submission process
  • Basic deal assessment prior to accepting deal into pipeline for deal evaluation / due-diligence and manage ad hoc enquiries on the Programme
  • Deal evaluation / due-diligence as per current IDC definition (all disciplines)
