Vacancy Location: Uitenhage and District SPCA, Eastern Cape

Job title: Veterinary Nurse/AHT

The Uitenhage and District SPCA in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, seeks the service of a veterinary nurse or animal health technician to perform the following services:

Basic primary health care on small animals. Vaccinations, de-worming and external parasite control of small animals. Dealing with sick/injured animals. Administration of medicines. Recognising and identify zoonoses/contagious animal diseases. Euthanasia on small animals and large animals.

The employer will apply for extension of registration to perform euthanasia on the employee’s behalf. Proof of experience with euthanasia will be required.

It is a requirement that the applicant must have own transport and accommodation. The applicant will also be required to work after hours and do standby duty. The applicant must be in possession of a code EB driver’s license and police clearance.

Vacancy Location: Empangeni SPCA, Empangeni, KZN

Job title: Veterinary Nurse/Animal Health Technician

The Empangeni SPCA is looking to employ a veterinary nurse/animal health technician in the Empangeni area to perform the following duties:

  • Basic Primary Health Care of small animals, vaccinations, deworming and parasite control on small animals
  • Basic wound care small animals
  • Recognition of controlled, notifiable diseases, Zoonosis
  • Euthanasia under veterinary supervision; small animals
  • Basic treatments with the guidance of the supervising vet
  • Micro chipping.
