FINANCE ASSISTANT: SUBSISTENCE &TRAVEL CLAIMS

The ARC-Central Office (ARC-CO) seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic person
to the following position at Hatfield, Pretoria:

FINANCE ASSISTANT: SUBSISTENCE &TRAVEL CLAIMS
(1 (ONE) YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Key performance areas:

  • Review of Subsistence and Travel (S&T) claim forms.
  • Review of travel advances.
  • Prepare the excel sheet for both advances and claims to be uploaded on the payroll system.
  • Balancing of the payroll file before payment is processed.
  • Reconciliation and processing of S&T amounts due for deduction from employee salaries.
  • Keeping of the travel advance register and follow up on overdue travel advances.
  • Ensuring queries from the institutes are cleared by finance assistance.
  • Assist with audit queries.
  • Filling of the S&T documents.

Requirements:

  • B-Com in Accounting / or Equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience in Finance.
  • proficiency in the MS Office suite.
  • Microsoft AX experience will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to resolve problems.
  • Deadline driven.
  • Supervision skills.
  • Analytic thinker.
  • Ability to build relationships.
  • Pay attention to detail.

DALRRD 3X STUDENTSHIPS: MEAT SCIENCE

(THREE (3) YEARS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Key Performance Areas:

  • Contributes towards research projects.
  • Assists in coordinating of work activities and supervises allocated resources if applicable.
  • Assist in drawing up monthly reports regarding research progress and data statistics.
  • Plan own work activities; Utilises and maintains own facilities, material, and equipment.
  • Conducts research support, diagnostics, and other services; Collects, captures, and processes data
    with basic analysis.
  • Provides verbal/written reports on work activities and results.
  • Adheres to quality standards and assists in the preparation for presentations.
  • Assists in optimising of equipment and/or processes and/or systems.
  • Provides input in the optimisation of new technologies and technical services.
  • Comply to all occupational health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • A Diploma in Animal Science BSc. / MSc. / In Animal or Food Science applied to Meat Science.
  • Must be willing to register M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Animal Sciences or Food Sciences applied to Meat
    Science.
  • A proven knowledge/experience in animal sciences or Food Science related disciplines.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality.

INTERNSHIPS X5: GERMPLASM DEVELOPMENT FOR SMALL GRAIN

(THREE (3) YEARS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Key Performance Areas:

  • Contribute to research and technical activities of multiple projects.
  • Participates in planning and coordinating glasshouse, field and laboratory experiments.
  • Carry out data collection, capturing, and basic analysis under supervision.
  • Participates in the identification and development of new business opportunities.
  • Participate in the successful transfer of scientific technology i.e. compilation of reports, oral and poster presentations.
  • Pro-actively provide technical input within the context of the research project/s.
  • Contribute to research by rendering desired support to research staff and optimise the utilisation of
    resources allocated to projects.
  • Utilise and maintain facilities, apparatus and equipment.
  • Comply to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • A 3 year National Diploma in Agriculture/Biotechnology/Crop Production/Genetics/Plant Breeding/Plant Science/Molecular Biology or related fields.
  • Knowledge of maintenance of equipment and infrastructure needed for research.
  • Understanding of basic principles of research.
  • Flexible and strong willingness to learn.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
