JOB PURPOSE:

To provide Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo clients with assistance in relation to burial
services including grave digging, memorial and tombstone erection and crematory services.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Assist Clients with Burial Services: Take calls from the General Public and Undertakers; as well as
receive and assist clients at JCPZ cemeteries for booking of cemetery products/ services (e.g. graves,
tombstones) • Provide reference numbers to the Public/ Undertakers • Liaise with Financial Administration
Clerks regarding payment and authorisation for products/ services • Assist customers at the cemeteries
with complaints or queries • Capture deceased information manually in a Burial Record Book • Advise
clients about the burial booking process • Check spreadsheets in relation to booked reopening’s and burials

  • Ensure that all documents received from the Undertakers are correct (lead document, proof of payment,
    Affidavit from the Police for reopening’s) • Assist in ushering family to locate grave of their deceased
  • Ensure all customers are treated in a dignified manner • Assist Depot and Zone Managers with cemetery
    bookings queries • Assist Undertakers with queries • Provide information to Cemeteries Area Manager for
    reporting purposes.
    Optimises Individual Performance: Actively participates and manages own performance levels • Ensure
    attendance to regular one-on-one meetings with Supervisor to discuss progress.
    SHEQ, Security Monitoring and Risk: Provide inputs for the development/ review of SOPs for the
    Cemeteries Department • Implement and monitor JCPZ safety, health, environmental and security policies
    and procedures • Implement identified risk mitigation measures • Respond to public enquiries and refer to
    Supervisor.
    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF level 4) • Certificate in Administration
  • Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience in an administrative role.
