REPORTING TO FINANCIAL MANAGER: CONTENT: To provide efficient and effective financial services to TV Division, these services will constitute; providing accurate timeous and relevant financial information with regard to budgets, income, expenditure and balance sheet.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGY

  •  Optimise the utilization of SABC resources.
  • Proactively provide financial advice and support to ensure. strategic business objectives are achieved.
  • Drive the implementation of cost saving initiatives in the division

2.  BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

  •  Perform special projects accounting.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information with minimal manual intervention.
  • Provide support with compilations of annual budgets.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy on expenditure.
  • Proactively provide financial advice and support to line managers to ensure strategic business objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure adherence to the “delegation of authority framework”.
  • Produce and deliberate on monthly financial reports with line managers.
  • Prepare Monthly pack for Executive management.
  • Review and analyse variances and obtain reasons from line managers.
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Propose cost saving measures to Business Units.
  • Provide monthly report which reflects financial results and performance of the respective business unit.
  • Ensure that the Sport month end amortization processing is accurate and is done timeously.
  • Download and Supply Media Assets Report to Platforms for review of possible impairments.
  • Work with Financial Analyst Platforms and process impairments in the system
  • Reconcile the monthly content payments and alert business as to unpaid content payments.
  • Attend meetings as and when required.
  • Preparation of ad hoc requests from the Manager: Broadcasting and Senior Management

3.  GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE

  •  Ensure adherence to all relevant SABC Policies and Procedures, SABC’s Delegation of Authority and acts including PFMA.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls.
  • Implement and maintain sound financial systems.

4.  STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  •  Explore and make recommendations on current Operational processes to streamline and improve it for better efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and maintain cross functional communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Effective discussion, coaching and communication with all levels of management to set proper budgets & forecasts.
  • Handle all the complaints and queries from internal and external stakeholder.
  • Provide financial support to the business unit.
  • Follow up with business units regarding queries of un-licenced contracts.
  • Following with business units regarding TVBMS and transmission queries
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders on behalf of the Financial Manager and maintain an effective, professional interface relationship.
  • Provide necessary assistance during audit period to auditors.

5. LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  •  Manage, direct, guide, motivate and develop the team.
  • Ensure effective communication within the department and division and promote effective communication channels.
  • Provide direction on the attraction and retention of staff.

INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

• National Diploma in Finance or relevant qualification. (NQF Level 6).

  • Knowledge of SAP financial application would be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE

• 5 years’ experience in finance or accounting environment with 2 years at a supervisory level

  • HR Business Processes and Systems understanding.
