Purpose of Job
To provide specialised input into environmental management challenges and ensure that environmental management practices achieve environmental objectives and targets. The position services the entire retail and commercial footprint of Sasol Energy Operations as well as the CDF Outbound Logistics depots and fleet.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
• Provide input to obtain and retain relevant environmental licenses/authorisations.
• Support business and function with implementation of strategies.
• Simplify processes inside and outside the unit and communicate, execute change and improvement
• Ensure results and compliance (licence to operate).
• Translate environmental legislation into business language and identify compliance challenges or risks.
• Consult on the prevention and addressing of environmental contamination due to Sasol operations and associated activities.
• Ensure that land and water which has been contaminated by Sasol is assessed and remediated following a tiered risk-based approach
• Enable compliance/disclosure and engage stakeholders on environmental compliance and performance.
• Assess legal compliance status of permits, licenses and authorizations and facilitate implementation of corrective actions.
• Evaluate and improve system to monitor, measure.
• Facilitate legal compliance and risk management.
• Report risks and support business to find solutions.
• Apply new ideas, expert knowledge, attention to detail, work methods and opportunities to improve results.
• Support implementation of business optimization initiatives. Understand customer needs to drive results.
• Establish and sustain relationships.
• Take ownership for the communication channels for the environmental function
• Participate as member of Environmental forums, natural working teams and other groups
• Coordinate portfolio specific activities arising from emerging legislation that can potentially impact on relevant site-hubs
Formal Education & Min Experience
B.Degree/B.Tech in Environmental management or equivalent (BSc/BA/BTech):
6 years total work experience
OR
B.Degree (Hons)/M.Tech in environmental management/B,Eng/ equivalent:
4 years total work experience
