Purpose of Job

Manage and execute processes for engaging and developing relationships with local and provincial governments, political and regulatory stakeholders and thought leaders, and key influencers within the surrounding communities. An all-rounder with communications, project management and brand management skills. Manage the development and delivery of communications, stakeholder relations and CSR initiatives in support of Sasol strategy and objectives and in alignment with Group objectives and requirements. Conceptualise, plan and manage events.

Strategy and Budget

Implement, measure and maintain stakeholder relations, communities and community affairs initiatives

Implement and measure strategies for engaging and developing relationships with governmental representatives and other key stakeholders 

Develop and maintain stakeholder engagement roadmaps and calendars

 Integrated Communications

Develop and maintain key external and internal communications collaterals such as stakeholder profiles, position statements, key messages, presentations, speeches, press releases, newsletters, etc. on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis to ensure International Energy 

Key responsibilities

Events & Sponsorship

Manage the development and maintenance of internal and external events calendars for both hosted and third-party events

Branding and exhibition management

With SHE department ensure that risk assessments are conducted for Community Affairs related activities and ensure health and safety guidelines are followed

Social Impact

Ensure that all SI initiatives meet the criteria stipulated by Group SI.Provide support to SOE Social Impact team to conceptualise, define, screen, and select future, positive social upliftment initiatives, projects, and investments that contribute to Sasol Group’s social responsibility and sustainability goals.  Collaborate with Manager Social Impact to ensure that all CSR initiatives meet the criteria stipulated by Sasol Group.

Key responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

Brief internal stakeholders on local issues, external stakeholder profiles, interests and positions on issues 

Work with and advise senior leaders and other stakeholders across the Functions on best practice for communicating with stakeholders.

Build and maintain positive relationships with key members of the community to enhance Sasol Group’s social responsibilities and reputation.  Manage in-depth needs and environmental analysis, issue early warning signals of stakeholder issues, and recommend response and engagement strategies.

Develop key support to stakeholder engagement planning and execution.

Identify risks that could impact operations and recommend appropriate responses and mitigation.

Render governance and reporting support on stakeholder engagement and regulatory programmes
