Technology and Coding and Robotics Teacher (Grades 7 to 9) – Curro Academy Sandown

  • An appropriate academic and professional education qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Relevant experience in teaching Technology, Coding and Robotics.

The responsibilities are:

  • Plan, control, record and report on assessments.

  • B.Ed or Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) or equivalent NQF level.
  • Honors degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Head /Principal of a Preschool.
  • IEB curriculum experience.
  • SACE registered.
  • A clear criminal record.

The responsibilties are:

  • Accountable for the overall management, running and achievement of targets of the primary school through planning, implementing and monitoring the effective application of CURRO academic, and extra mural policies and procedures as adapted and customized to the needs of the school.
  • Also responsible for the active teaching, transfer of knowledge, skills development and growth of positive attitudes of learners to prepare them for the 21st century through integrated and focused teaching approaches.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget across the primary school.
  • Development of annual business and strategic plan including forecasted learner target numbers, as aligned to CURRO head office strategy and Executive Head overall plan across the Campus.
  • Collate year planner across the school including holiday and aftercare programmes
  • Create the overall timetable across the school
  • Oversee health and safety compliance including emergency evacuations (execution and reports)
  • Setting up of assessment timetable as aligned to CURRO CCMD (Common Assessments) schedule in line with the CAPS curriculum
  • Review of all assessments (pre-moderation and post-moderation)
  • Review and sign off all reports and overall reporting of school performance.
  • Recruitment and selection of new staff within salary budget in conjunction with Executive Management.
  • Mentoring and management of Staff.
  • Staff appraisals.
  • Management of disciplinary issues and then referral to Executive Head as required.
  • Mediation between staff and parents in the event of issues.
  • Set up calendar events annually in coordination with other phases to ensure no overlap.
  • Create a comfortable yet academically learner centered environment.
  • Make use of relevant modern days tools and processes.
  • Setting of rules and boundaries to manage discipline.
  • Communication and relationship building with learners and parents (newsletters, sporting letters, outings letters etc.) and keep records of issues/ events and problems to determine trends and patterns.
  • Communication with parents regarding specific issues.
  • Apply code of conduct in relation to discipline.
  • Personal commitment to education and a willingness to contribute to the values and ethos of the school.
