Training Officer

Reporting to the Senior Training Officer, the Training Officer will fulfil all the necessary requirements to equip staff with the knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out work-related tasks. The training officer will be directly involved in continuous improvement initiatives and related projects to optimise the efficiencies in the Training & Development Department and that of the Company’s workforce.


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Set up and co-manage the SDC at the relevant factory / factories
  • Identify training and development needs on the lines / within departments by conducting Skills Audits and regular consultations with Factory / Department / Line Managers.
  • Develop the Skills Matrix for the lines/departments where placed.
  • Develop and maintain a Training Plan based on the needs of the organisation, lines/departments and individual employees;
  • Work in a team to produce Training programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant parties;
  • Develop applicable training course material and presentations for in-house courses;
  • Facilitate the On-Boarding process;
  • Manage the delivery of training and development programmes;
  • Facilitate training & development programmes including technical, supervisory & EHS related programmes as required with a specific leaning towards soft skills and supervisory developmen
  • Monitor and review the progress of trainees through assessments / questionnaires and discussions with managers
  • Ensure that all statutory training requirements are met;
  • Ensure accurate capturing of all training and development activities;
  • Evaluate training and development programmes;
  • Amend and revise programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment.
  • Maintain and adhere to quality standards at all times.Continuous Improvement
  •  Identify gaps and root causes, present and implement corrective / measurable solutions
  • Have a direct impact on the quality defect counts within the factories where deployed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum: Grade 12/NQF level 4; NQF Level 5 in Education Training & Development
  • Ideal:
    – National Diploma- Education, Training & Development Practitioner (ETDP / HR) NQF 6
    –  3-5 years relevant experience
  •  Sound knowledge of the Skills Development Act;
  • Sound understanding of Quality Management and Continuous Improvement principles;
  • Working knowledge and proficient in all aspects of materials development;
  • Working knowledge and proficient in all aspects of training facilitation;
  • Excellent working knowledge in MS Office Suite, i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Able & willing to work overtime and under pressure.

Quality Inspector

Reporting to the Quality Group Leader, the Quality Moulding Shop Inspector will formally report non-compliance and will be a link between relevant role players ensuring that the appropriate corrective actions are implemented.


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete inspections in boats on the Moulding Shop lines and ensure that the inspections are in line with the Quality Control standards.
  • Raise the relevant corrective actions for quality issues identified on the lines.
  • Compile defects lists and update work station boards.
  • Ensure that Quality Control data is captured and analyzed on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that the Quality Control server is updated regularly with accurate information.
  • Provide feedback to stakeholders at meetings regarding Quality Control at Moulding Shop.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum: NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Ideal: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Production Management/Engineering or related field
  • Experience: At least 2-3 yrs. Moulding Shop experience
  • Have a firm understanding of, and passion for, quality standards;

CARPENTER

We are looking to appoint an employee as a Carpenter within the Assembly Department. This position will report to the Team Leader.


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assemble and fit all joinery components.
• Read and Understand Drawings
• Must be able to use power tools (Grinder, Jigsaw, Drill etc)
• Assume responsibility and accountability for own work.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER

Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, this role will support workstations to drive improvements which will enable quality and improve boat building processes. The primary aim will be to optimize workstations outputs. The engineers will devise efficient ways to use workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make better products and improve processes. The position will work with and receive support from various departments to yield fast results. The daily responsibility is focused on but not limited to safety, quality, manufacturing, 5s and supporting strategic goals.


KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Investigate how to manufacture parts or products, or deliver services, with maximum efficiency.
• Provide support to production teams to ensure build cycle is safer, faster and in good quality.
• Support manufacturing production teams to analyse and resolve build issues.
• Update CAD model and drawings for production alignment.
• Analyse existing operations and propose cost justified improvements.
• Optimize use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment.
• Simplify process flow.
