Groups Travel Specialist – AAA Travel
Ample Assistance is an independent, inbound tour operator, based in Hout Bay Cape Town, South Africa since 1997. AAA Travel is well-known for providing a unique service, personal attention, and creative travel ideas to their clients.
We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated Travel Specialist to join our dynamic groups travel team. The person will play a pivotal role in costing and presenting AAA Travel products to our clients. The responsibilities include designing cost-effective travel itineraries and providing personalized attention and ensuring accurate and efficient processing of tailor-made requests. The role involves working under pressure while maintaining a high level of care in crafting the clients ‘ultimate holiday experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
Designing routing for client programs, ensuring the use of area knowledge and preferred suppliers.
Providing personalized attention to clients’ travel documents; offering advice on events of special interest.
Utilizing Microsoft Excel for calculating purposes as well as systems like Tourplan Groups to manage your tours on a daily basis.
Exporting quotes into a Word document for final delivery to agents/clients (utilizing platforms like WETU for colourful quotations).
Making client-requested amendments and recording reasons for unconverted quotes.
Monitoring and maintaining set % margin and cost control throughout the process.
Experience:
Expert knowledge of Southern Africa, its cultures, tourist attractions and accommodations with well-travelled experience.
Proficiency in booking, pricing, and online systems – Tour Plan, Wetu.
Understanding of contracts, commissions and Tour Plan.
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
Good command of the English language.
Dutch would be beneficial
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification.
Grade 12 Maths (not Maths Literacy).
Minimum of 3 to 5 plus years’ experience in a similar position within a Tour Operator environment.
Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
Salary – Market related and dependent on experience.

Qualifications and Experience
- University Degree
- Minimum of 5 years + Travel experience in an Account Management role, specializing in Incentive Inbound Tourism
- Must be able to travel extensively (spend quite a bit of time away from home) – Excited and ready to explore Africa!

Main KPA’s

Our client established Tour Operation – based in Cape Town, are looking for an experienced Reservations/Operations Consultant to join their team. Excellent communications, planning, organisational skills; Problem solving, multi-tasking and able to meet deadlines. Able to work office based – standard office hours, and flexibility in day shifts. Own reliable transport and to reside in Cape Town.
Criteria:

- FITs & B2C Safari Sales experience (Direct Safari package sales to the consumer/clients) – Essential (More inbound than outbound experience would be preferred)

- Strong knowledge of African destinations, logistics and properties – Experience in Southern and Eastern Africa Safari and a bit of Indian Ocean Islands.
- 5+ years’ experience in the tourism industry specifically selling African safaris.
- 5+ experience in a sales environment dealing with direct consumers.
