Logistics Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW

As the Logistics Manager, you will manage logistics processes, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management and order fulfilment to optimise resource utilisation, minimise costs and meet customer demand. Your role involves demand planning, organising and controlling inbound and outbound logistics activities to achieve operational excellence and customer satisfaction. This role requires regular travelling.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Further develop and implement an integrated logistics management system and strategy to support the business objective
  • Collaborate with Development, Maintenance and Operations teams to forecast inventory needs and plan replenishment orders
  • Performance analysis of the overall budget/expenses for the logistics operation and determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of transport services
  • Ensure the logistics processes are streamlined
  • Implement best practices for warehouse management, including organising stock, implementing FIFO system, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations
  • Negotiate pricing for market rates and drive improvements
  • Negotiate and conclude contracts for inbound and outbound logistics
  • Ensure efficient management, control, compliance and reporting of the function in accordance with legislation, fraud prevention, risk management principles, company strategic supplier relationships and negotiations
  • Manage international import and export processes

REQUIREMENTS

  • BCom Logistics/Procurement, Bachelors Industrial Engineering or similar qualification
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role including managerial experience
  • Competent in Google Workspace/MS Office
  • Bilingual (multilingual beneficial)
  • Quick-service restaurant (QSR) experience advantageous
  • Warehouse management experience
  • International trade experience
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid driver’s licence

Risk Controller

Role overview
The Risk Controller supports the business by conducting process audits and assessing risk across operations. This role is part of the Hungry Lion Zambia HQ team and involves regular local travel. The position reports to management and ensures risk controls are evaluated and maintained effectively.

Duties / Responsibilities

Risk Assessment

  • Perform regular audits across business processes as directed by management.
  • Identify, assess, and report on operational risks.
  • Recommend actions to reduce or eliminate identified risks.
  • Prepare and submit accurate risk control reports.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the business.

Administration & Support

  • Ensure administrative tasks meet internal standards and deadlines.
  • Organize and maintain records and documentation in line with compliance and confidentiality standards.

Personal Effectiveness

  • Manage time and workload independently to ensure timely, high-quality output.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualification in Risk Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) or retail environments.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (G-Suite).
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred due to travel requirements).

Technical Buyer

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Buyer with experience in the QSR industry and a background in chicken abattoirs to join our dynamic procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of technical purchasing, supplier management, and supply chain logistics, with a willingness to travel frequently to various countries, suppliers, processing facilities and operational sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Conduct supplier audits and site visits to assess quality, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to optimize cost savings and quality assurance.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate just-in-time procurement to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Work closely with production to understand technical requirements and provide procurement solutions.
  • Ensure all purchases comply with industry standards, food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare reports on procurement performance, cost analysis, and supplier evaluations.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and trends in abattoir equipment and QSR supply chain management.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Buyer in the QSR or food manufacturing industry, specifically within chicken abattoirs.
  • Strong understanding of technical procurement, supply chain management, and vendor negotiation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently for supplier audits, inspections, and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, equipment maintenance and operational requirements in chicken processing.
  • Degree or diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
